Did fairly heavy workout today , upper body mostly. In the last couple of hours the muscles on my upper arms and back have been twitching non-stop, its kind of freaking me out now, has never happened before. Anyone any ideas why ?

it happens from time to time.
the muscle fibres are growing back after being ripped up a bit from your workout.
    It's normal(ish) for me anyway.
    nothing to get worried about

just make sure you;re getting in enough protein and the muscle fibres will heal up bigger and stronger.

(its more complex than that really but its a synopsis)

Its to do with overworking your nervous system. When you lift heavy weights you shock your nervous system and for a while it can have increased excitability, you also create free radicals which can stimulate the nerves causing the twitching. Nothing to worry about unless it happens for no reason

If it becomes a regular thing, you might also want to make sure you're getting enough magnesium, calcium, potassium, and possibly sodium. (Though most people are getting too much sodium, which is bad.)
