the girlfriend had her mirror glass replaced, it wasnt fitting right so we used glue to make sure it stayed, i just washed her car for the first time since the mirror was fitted (a week ago) and i the whole drivers side of the car is now covered in bits of hard glue!!!!

I had told her not to drive the car after it was fitted but after i left she thought she would nip down to the shop, big mistake!!!! Anyways i have tried Petrol/kerosene/and a tar an glue remover (i never heard of the name before but it was the only one in the shop) im fresh outa ideas, it is terrible looking when the car is washed, any ideas or suggestions as to what products to try out to get it off?

I know you said you used tar and glue remover but have you tried loctite super glue remover that comes in a tube? I don't know what effects if any this will have on the paintwork. Ask PaintDoctor, he will probably have come across this before.

What type of glue is it? If it's superglue (AKA CA or cyanocrylate) you can get a special remover for it otherwise I don't know. I've no idea what it may or may not do to paintwork either :D

Hi, there is only 1 answer - we remove a lot of glue residues during the course of our work. The answer is "Industry Cleaner", available in aerosols from a company called Wurth, they are based at the Red Cow. It is the best adhesive remover on the market, and I have tried everything. It is also a superb general purpose cleaner, and it doesn't harm paint(but don't blame me if it does in your case!) It is sort of the cleaning version of WD-40, it has a million and 1 uses. Fantastic stuff. It does also do a superb job of removing car polish, so you may have to re-apply the polish to the area you clean, but it wont harm the paint or lacquer. Spray on, leave for 10 seconds, clean off with a soft cloth. Repeat if neccessary.:)

Human sweat breaks down superglue (AKA CA or cyanocrylate as Alun said).
I found this out the hard way after supergluing a set of cheapo shades, then wearing them cycling on a warm day.

So if ye both go mad on a bit of aerobics, then rub yerselves off the car ye'll be sorted. Ye won't have to make small talk with the neighbours ever again either...

This might work as it is a full strength tar, glue and adhesive remover, not the diluted ones you get in the shops. Spray on and let it work in for a few minutes. Don't start rubbing straight away. After 5 mins try wiping down the area with a soft cloth. Hopefully that will shift it and then wash the area with a car shampoo. Wear gloves and eye protection in case of overspray.

Is there an Autozone in Letterkenny.

The Wurth spray is not available in the shops, its the fullest full strength you can get. I have tried most of the mickey mouse stuff, and a lot of the "industrial" gear, and the wurth is still the best and fastest, we buy it by the case of 12 cans, and I have yet to meet the grot that defeats it.
