Where to insulate joists...

    Hi all,

Just wondered if you can help. I am trying to figure out where we should insulate the joists - do I insulate undert he ceiling (between joists) or on the plywood, beneath the UFH - which will have a 50mm screed on it.

From speaking to tradesmen, I am getting conflicting reports -

    1) Insulating with Rockwool/Fibreglass between the joists (under the ceiling) means that the heat remains in the downstairs

    2) Insulating on the ply means that the heat remains upstairs

I am leaning towards 1, but maybe the best thing to do would be both...
