Buying a laptop (looking for advice)...

    Hi all,

I'm buying a new laptop and basically looking for advice on what would be the best make/model for me. My budget would be around 700euro but could stretch to 800. I'd mainly be using the laptop for watching stuff online and college work. Mobility would be important enough, not looking for anything too small screenwise (somewhere between 12-15) but the lighter the better as the old laptop I had was very heavy. A good warranty would also be preferable as would windows as the operating systems.

I guess what I'm mostly looking for in the laptop is for it to be very fast, to have a very long battery life and to be lightweight.

Any advice, info on the type of laptop I should look into buying and where the best places are to purchase would be really appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Check out the Asus range they do good spec lightweight laptops or try Dell

A laptop with the following spec should meet your needs:
    - A dual core processor or above
    - minimum or 2gig ram, more if budget allows
    - from your description you do not seem to be doing anything graphics intense so an onboard Intel GPU should meet your needs. Just google it to be sure your not getting anything too old.

You might have a look at cherryghost's post to get a bit of info on processor's, graphics and ram.
