crush on flatmate

I'm sure this has already been covered in other threads, but I'm living with a flatmate and have started to really really like him......I've been single for over a year now, and whilst there hasn't been much action lately, I've never really been stuck if i wanted it. that said, since me and the ex split, I've found it very hard to even think about a relationship.

so here's teh problem - I don't know if I like him just because we live together, he seems like a nice guy, decent and caring and like he'd be a good boyfriend - and is quite attractive.....or if it goes deeper.....I don't think I want a relationship with him, I haven't wanted one with anyone since the ex and I'm very reluctant to give up my freedom for a guy after the last one......I also can't imagine really letting myself be vulnerable again, the breakup took so much from me, so many months of my life gone on feeling down and low and I'm only starting to build a sense of self again.....but this guy, I can't stop fantasising about him, I just want to be close to him...
how do I know if he likes me? It's usually fairly obvious in party/club situations, but he's not long out of a relationship too......he does take time to talk to me, and seems interested in what I say, but is he just a very cool guy or is it more?

As someone who has been there and done that if you are in any way entertaining even scoring him then you need to move out. Shagging your roomie is a complete minefield tbh.

    OP here,

thanks for the reply Miss Fluff - can I ask you what happened? Thing is, I know it'd probably be a bad idea to start shagging him, but a big part of me still really wants to cos I like him a lot....what happened in your case?

Came out of a six-year relationship that I was in from 22 to 28 so after I broke it off with the BF I moved across town and moved in to a shared house with two guys. Me and the guy who owned the house had serious chemistry and after living there all of a wet week we ended up in bed after flirting outrageously since I moved in. We then ended up in bed every day more or less for two months until it just because ridiculously messy and complicated and I ended up looking for somewhere else to live three months in. We didn't speak for a year. We get on fine now etc, it's a long time ago, but I vowed I'd never do it again. It's like you go from sharing a gaff to co-habiting overnight which simply is NOT natural. If you're really keen move out.
