    Hi all,
Would you recommend protein bars in the few days before a marathon, i'm doing Antwerp this Sunday and some places recommend lots of carbs and very little protein whereas others recommend both?
Also, I read someplace to stop drinking fluids an hour before a marathon so your system is cleared whereas I've just read that you should take a drink 10mins before! To me it makes sense to stop drinking an hour before as I'd hate to have to go after just getting started..
What do you guys and gals reckon??
    Thanks!

Eat a balanced diet and you will be grand, load up on the carbs a few days before hand. Why not eat meat instead of protein bar, unless your a veggie. Drink plenty of water the days before the marathon, 3 or 4 hours before a marathon drink 1 litre off water, then about 1.30 before drink 500ml of water and as your making your way to the start line sip on a sports drink.

I'm just lookin at loading up on protein as well as carbs, but not sure if that's a good thing!
Ok so, water up to an hour and half before the marathon, then sips leading up to it, cheers!

You could always try the Aussie 3 minute burst carb loading technique ;)

Honestly, its not a drinking game:

Personally I prefer to just ramp up the percentage of carbs that I eat as the week goes on. Much the same as Heff has recommended.
