    hi all,
ive to drop the wifes car to be nct'd tomorrow but she cant find the registration book for it... she thinks it might have been thrown out over the winter when cleaning out her office. she still has a receipt from the dealer she bought the car off over 16 months ago. Will the car still be allowed to go through an nct test or will she have to order a new book and wait untill she recieves it before doing the test? if so how does she go about doing this.
a quick response would be appreciated guys as ive to do the test for her in the morning.
    thanks

I've never actually been asked for it before, although there's always a first time.

You don't need the licencing cert for the nct test, I've been there loads of times and never been asked for it.

Well they do say in the blurb that you should have it, that's why the OP is asking, so yes, in theory, you do need it, but in practice not.

To use the phrase......in the current economic climate.......you will will find it very, very hard, to find an inspector, who will risk a rather safe and relatively well paid job for 50 €......

As all above have said they don't ask for it generally, well the old crowd didn't, I would advise you bring the confirmation letter/email/reference number or whatever though, don't mention the reg book though.
