I need to take a short clip from a dvd and place it in a powerpoint presentation.

How do I do this for a Dell laptop with windows xp?
What are the best free downloads to use etc? Thanks.

Well, if it's a copy protected DVD then you'll have to use something like Slysoft's AnyDVD. Once you have done this you'll then need to cut out all the superfluous stuff and convert it into a powerpoint friendly format.

For conversion I recommend Format Factory.

Convert the file into the .wmv format and the trim it to the required length using the Windows Media File Editor which can be downloaded as part of the Windows Media Encoder package.

Is it from a movie? can you find the clip on Youtube?

if so find out what type of video files powerpoint accepts then go to zamzar and download the clip in the same format

But dont use the AVI file format
