New Sagem HD Freesat box

Comments

I've not seen any worth while objective reviews , mainly just people having rants at the quality of Sagem products without actually using this box" http://forums.reghardware.co.uk/forum/1/2009/10/01/review_hd_sagem_dsi86hd_freesat_receiver/#c_592718 "

Looks good for a 2nd box at least, it's DVB-S2 so future proof

Guys has anyone some across this box or read any reviews ?

    Just this one:

EDIT: Seems to be a different box to one you posted Tony.

Biggest issue seems to be that you must have two feeds.

From evilivor link it looks like there is a PVR function, must be via external USB drive . Nice

Edit - I'm wrong there is an on board hard drive .

I hope to have it in shortly and price will be less that current model.

If it is anything like some of the other Sagem rubbish I have encountered down through the years then give it a wide berth. I swear the French must be the most inept country when it comes to manufacturing anything, all they are really good for is cheating in the world cup and growing overpriced wine.

Well that's a little harsh and irrelevant but Sagem really know how to make an unstylish looking box and what's with the big ugly red LED's and a non-functional USB port on the front of the unit?
I also notice that there is no Optical out so may be an issue for some people who want to connect it to their Surround sound set up.

I also think it's worth giving it a miss, for alternatives have a look here:
    Freesat HD receivers

Do these HD boxes work the same as the SKY box.
I.E does the Red Button work ( e.g for the BBC Interactive)
And can you tune in the extra channels, like FIVE?

Totally irrelevant to the topic being discussed, if you have no experience or opinion on this specific model then please dont post.

i have a humax, and i don't use the optical port, as the humax output's audio via hdmi to the amp unlike a sky box.. So the necessity of the optical out is questionable in some cases..
Probably be nice to have a working one all the same on the sagem

Is it OK to tout for business in this forum?

No its not, I was responding to a specific question not touting . If you have a problem with the post use the report option and if a mod wants me to delete the post i'd be happy to do so. Would you prefer if I completly ignored the question?

I don’t know what you mean by trolling! You describe yourself on this forum as ‘the owner of satellite.ie’ your reply post reads......’ I hope to have it in shortly and price will be less that current model.’ – I rest my case.

    What case ????
Tony started this thread and Stellartois asked a question and Tony replied. Now that might seem to you as self pimping.
But I and a lot of other Regular Posters here know that Tony dont self pimp unlike some guys who only come here and reply to a question to self pimp.
Tony has permission to have his company in his signature and to be honest if Tony was not here to help or answer questions this forum would be a lost cause and hopefuly this thread stays on topic. BTW i am no way connected to Satellite.ie or Tony moore.
    I rest my case

Ah I see now, you are making a case. I thought you were just asking?

Red Button works for sport and some other events like Glastonbury but is not as fully functional as on with Sky.

You do not need to tune in Five, as it is part of the Freesat package and it fully supported in the EPG.

You would think they would have sorted this out by now

Re: Red Button on BBC. Thing is its a totally different platform from Sky so the features are developed separately. I would expect thought that over time both will be very close in content and features
