Speeding fine in UK

Hi. I have to drive from Holyhead to Harwich to collect my loved ones who have been stuck on mainland Europe and want to come home. I'll be driving an Irish reg car and have an Irish driving licence.

It looks like (surprise surprise) the transfer of penalty points is not yet enabled. Sure they only signed it into law here in 2002 so it'll be a while yet! http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/travel-and-recreation/motoring-1/driving-offences/penalty-points-for-driving-offences

But if I happen to sneak above the speed limit and get pulled over and fined and/or get caught on a camera and am due a fine, what is the situation? Would they pursue it at all, i.e do they have any way of trying to issue the fine to me or do they simply ignore it? Assume that if I was stopped in the future having an outstanding fine there might be some complications - but if I never knew about it how could I pay?

    Any info welcome. Thanks.

Ha sneak above the speed limit?! More like I'm planning on from Hollyhead to Harwich and I want to see how quickly I can do the trip plus give my car a good road test!

As far as I'm aware they'll send the fine to the registered address of the car in Ireland. Who cares though?! No penalty points!!

    Go and enjoy your trip!

However, if they pull you over at the side of the road, they can arrest you, until the fine is paid (on the spot speeding fines).

No penalty points can be issued, at least.

    Just watch out.

if a speed camera clocks you in the UK dont worry that as yet there is no way of knowing your irish address, its the same as for parking , its only if you have commited a criminal offence or are pulled up by the police that you will be charged[dangerous driving ect]

What if the following time you are in the UK would the Police ANPR flag it up as having a speeding or parking fine outstanding?

not unless you have commited a criminal offence,1000s of the continental wagon drivers have broken the speeding laws in the UK every year ,only UK reg cars are on the data base, but there is a intelligence contact, but you would have to be realy bad to be on that.i once worked for a parking company and also a security company and had many dealings with traffic offences,if fact the traffic wardens are told not to book foreign reg cars,as it is almost impossible to get your money,[if you can clamp them ,thats different. ]
