Get Rid of my Belly!

Hi there, new to the forum and looking for a bit of advice on trimming down.
joined a gym back in december and been going pretty regularly, usually 4 or 5 times a week as im on the dole and got nothing better to do.

    Im 26 and weight 94kg.
I used to weigh close to 100kg but following 10 months travelling in south america i was 86kg by the time i returned.

i play astro soccer 1 or 2 times a week for an hour. my gym routine consists of the following:
    25-30mins on treadmill at 11kph
then i alternated my weights, one day doing chest and shoulders and the next doing back and legs.
in the past 4 months i have noticed my chest and shoulders and arms get slightly bigger and stronger but i have seen no change in my belly.
i only drink once every 2 weekends or so and usually have 5 or 6 pints.
Back from travelling i am unemployed and living at home, dont really eat junk food or have a sweet tooth. living at home i mainly have a typical irish diet of meat and 2 veg most nights.

after all this time in the gym and not seeing any real results i am starting to lose motivation and its starting to piss me off.

whats more annyoing is at the same time i joined the gym my mate joined too and now he is sporting a 6-pack.

what can i do to shift the "beer belly"? should i increase my cardio?

any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I'm only really a beginner myself too but what I can tell you from the stuff I've read/seen so far is..... Abs/6packs will only come about if you peel away the fat layer over them... in other words losing overall weight. Crunches are good for building them but they will not be noticeable if the belly still resides over them.

im not too pushed about having a 6-pack really, i have read somewhere that you need to be at roughtly 6% fat before you would have a 6 pack showing.
just need advice on whether my gym routine is suitable to my requirements.
    but thanks for your response.

what improvements have you seen in your workouts?

when you last tested your best 5km time what did you get?

Over the past year how much have your weights gone up and what are you lifting now?

diet would be roughly as follows

    breakfast about 12
    wheetabix/muesli/cornflakes/cheerios and glass of juice

one or two pieces of fruit during the day

    diiner about 6 or 7
usually consists of potatoes and a meat and some veg, and maybe a lasagne or chicken and rice dish

tea and a biscuit or two later in the night.

i am open to some advice on my diet but i am not going to become one of these people who obsess about their food intake and will only eat rice crackers with peanut butter and only eat lean turkey

i usually run 5k in about 29/30 mins, it never seems to get easier though, just as hard everytime.

i have never done any sort of weights before a couple of months ago so i went from benching about 20kg to 40kg, 3 sets of 12 reps.

again no expert here, when i started gym work i did pure cardio and weight machines, i was doing 5k in 30 ish minutes....i got to narrow it down and went to beat the time week by week, have it down to 21.32 now and am happy with it...for now :),to build up i was doing 5 k every 2nd day and trying to beat the time by 20 seconds each time you would be amazed at how fast you could improve by doing this!!!!!! biggest change was moving to free weights and set targets for myself, i started with 30kg and am now up to 70kg, i aint doing may at 70 but its getting better all the time....my best advice is patience...sounds naff but patience and dedication are the 2 things that are getting me there and ive still got belly flab that wont go so i been taking up spinning 3 times a week as well as my weights...muscle building and fat dropping for now....as for the belly...well...you cant empty the deep end of a pool first can ya?...stick with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
