My son has just informed me that neither of his controllers are working even when connected via the usb cable. They are both official controllers. Any idea what this could be. I have googled about this, and can only find solutions if the controller is not working wirelessly, but they are not working at all. Any idea what the problem could be and how to fix it. Thanks in advance:)

How old are the contollers? Do they get dropped / thrown around much?
Maybe they have just ran out of juice, but then again that shouldnt stop them from working when they are hooked up with USB cable.
Or they are just broken. You should go to your nearest Gamestop / Game / Xtravision etc and ask them

Thanks for you reply, I only bought the ps3 in September last year in Harvery Normans and got the extra controller at the same time, might take a trip down there later and ask them.

Try reassigning the controllers first before rushing back to the shop, as it seems odd that both are not working.

So go to settings on the XMB. Then it's either controller or accesory settings and simply reassign. Works for me everytime!

If you connect them to the a PC or laptop using the USB cable, do they charge up with the 4 status lights coming on?

No, tried everything suggested and more and they still won't work:( Going to take them down the Harvey Normans tomorrow and see what they say. I don't use them myself so am not sure how my son has been treating them:rolleyes: but I don't think they get thrown around.

have you got a dodgy connection in your USB charge cable ? my original one didnt last long as it kept getting caught in a drawer of the unit under where my ps3 is. im now using a usb off an old camera i believe which is doing the trick. also i noticed that one of my USB ports is a little dodgy and doesnt recognise the cable being in the port all the time :)

    +Plus 1

Check to see if it is the cable itself.

Don't think its the cables themselves, but will check them out anyway. Thanks
