Anybody opted in? 40 lids gets you a stripped down version of Sampletank and three Xpansion Tank 2 packs from Sonic Reality for free. Looks good, but I was wondering if anyone here has a preference between Sampletank and Kontakt...from what I've seen, Kontakt makes Sampletank look somewhat gimmicky by comparison, and the quality of the Sonic Reality samples isn't amazing - but you get what you pay for I guess.

As someone who is looking for a way of establishing a synth workstation, should I chance my arm or put my money into one of the N.I bundles?

There was talk on Gearslutz of sampletank 3 being imminent. They are just off loading the old stock, but you probably get a discount against the new one when it arrives.

IK are really smart when it comes to marketing. They did the same thing with the amplitube 2 stuff. Sold it for next to nothing which got them lots of new customers, then they released Amplitube 3 with a discount for those who had just bought Amplitube 2.

I wouldn't really be against this if the product was in anyway decent - old, but decent.

I think it's been around for about 5 years so that's a long time in the software world. I'd imagine the new one will be the bees knees though.

So probably worth buying into the old one if you intend to upgrade to the new one.
