Advice on broken glass in food/restaurant

Not completely sure this is the right place to be posting this but hopefully someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

Basically over the weekend my family went out for a meal in the city centre and as part of my starter I received several shards of glass, one of which actually managed to take a sizeable chunk out of one of my molars.

The staff were apologetic but not particulary helpful. I made a point of requesting the owners details but one of the workers insisted I take her contact details and any costs incurred by getting the tooth fixed would be taken care of. What I don't think she realised is that it probably won't be cheap as I'd reckon i'll end up having to get a crown.

I'm basically wondering what avenues I should be exploring in terms of making sure that the restaurant take responsibility for the damage?

I contacted the consumers association who directed me to the food safety authority. The FSAI took the details but couldn't help me any further than saying they'd send someone out to investigate the premises and make sure it didn't happen again. I wasn't particularly happy about it either as I was just looking for some advice and doubt the restaurant will be delighted with having inspectors show up.

So any advice on who to talk to or perhaps what I should be doing?

If you are seeking damages from the establishment you need to contact a solicitor who deals with personal injury.

You should definitely contact a solicitor regarding your legal options.

However on a purely practical non-legal aspect, you should contact the restaurant manager (the TOP one) immediately and report this to them. I would not be happy just telling a waitress and getting a promise that she would pay for the tooth being fixed.
Seems really strange that she is trying to keep you from a manager (I think it's reasonable not to give you the owner's information maybe?)

THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE but contact the top restaurant manager and tell them of the incident, find out how much it's going to cost to get your tooth fixed and contact your solicitor. There may be more for you to consider than just the cost of getting the tooth fixed (time off work, etc.)

Many thanks for the feedback, hopefully it won't have to go down the road of a solictor but at least know I know what my options are.
