Well everyone the contest this year has reached the end of the road. We started the 2010 version of the Draft in January and now, three months later, it is time to reveal who has emerged victorious from what was surely the toughest of the three games done to date.

All eligible votes have been counted and checked (and re-checked) and I can reveal to you that in the closest fought race we've ever had in the game, with a score of 72 points and a margin of victory of 5 points, the winner of the 2010 Boards PW Draft is...

Congratulations to Ger on putting together a roster that gained a lot of support and which had the most first preference votes in the game with five top scores. You can take a look at Ger's winning write-up here.

Big commiserations must go out to runner-up this year jaykhunter who lost out by such a tight margin. He can at least be proud that he came closer than anyone came in previous drafts to the eventual victor. This was the tightest race we've ever had and every vote made a difference. Coming in third place was last year's champ flahavaj but I'm sure he'll be delighted for the new champion.

As with previous years if we present things as a table here is how everyone finished up:

    1. Gerard.C (C)...................................................................72 pts
    2. jaykhunter......................................................................67 pts
    3. flahavaj..........................................................................58 pts
    4. Bounty Hunter..................................................................53 pts
    5. Mr Nice Guy ....................................................................46 pts
    6. waltersobchak..................................................................38 pts
    7. Vince135792003................................................................24 pts
    8. JP Liz...............................................................................20 pts
    9. Voltwad............................................................................18 pts
    10. Dare 2 Defy.....................................................................13 pts
    11. glenjamin.........................................................................11pts
    = Jolt2007.............................................................................11 pts
    12. Furious-Red........................................................................5 pts
    13. dojojoe..............................................................................3 pts
    14. Cactus Colm........................................................................1 pt
    = campo..................................................................................1 pt
    = SlickRic.................................................................................1 pt

So three lads share the proverbial wooden spoon this year but at least nobody finished on zero pts.

I'd like to thank gimmick for his help with the contest this year. It was actually gimmick's idea to do the Draft earlier this year than in previous years and I've no doubt that was a big help in avoiding the problems we often had with the summer drafts of previous years. His help was much appreciated. I'd also like to thank everyone involved in the contest for making it run far smoother than previous years, especially since things got off to a sticky start with the Hacker situation in January. The cooperation from everyone made things easy and I feel as if good bonds have been formed from this year's contest.

A final thought on the standard of the write-ups. I thought they were terrific this year and definitely raised the bar from last year's efforts. Well done to everyone for their work and to Ger for his winning contribution. As with previous years, I will later publish how everyone voted in the Discussion Thread to ensure that my maths was accurate. I took extra care with counting this year since it was so tight!

OK then folks that pretty much wraps things up from me. Hopefully you enjoyed the stips, the picks, the dips and also the banter as much as I did.

Congrats one more time to Gerard.C and his Premier Wrestling Federation and I guess now there's nothing left to say except..."Up the Premier!"

Man that was close, but it stays down South. Well done young stable mate.

Fair play also to BH and MNG who I think have been top 5 in all 3 drafts. Not to mention Flavs 1sta nd 3rd efforts. And to Jayk, which was my personal favourite roster.

Gowan The Premier!!!! I expect a f*cking epic epic acceptance speech.

Thanks to anyone who voted for me, surprised to come that high up this year!

That's awesome! Overjoyed at that!! :D:D Ger's was my fav PPV, had me in stitches the whole way through, could've made any rassler look like a megastar! Well done to everyone involved; the rankings really don't show how awesome the write-ups were this year; tis proof that we irish understand wrestling better than the carnies that run it! :pac::pac:

would you believe I completely forgot to put Ger down on my list! I wouldn't have had him quite top, as Jayk was my clear favourite really, but all the same I'm glad my own ineptness didn't cost Ger a title he does deserve for a fantastically entertaining read.

    well done to all.

Munster can be proud again bais ;)

Jobbed again. Not doing weekly shows must really have hurt my chances ... because otherwise my roster was AWESOME!

At least I'm still the Around The Horn co-champ. Can't take that away from me

Well done to Gerard C though!

And cheers to MNG and Gimmick!

o yeah? ;) There will be a new ATH themed competition starting after the draft slammy awards!

congrats again to Ger think thats the 3rd time (atleast the last two were) where I voted the champ no.1, he def deserved it but tbh as i said in the other thread anyone who won this year would have argueably deserved the victory given the standards of everyones entries.

Thanks again to MNG and Gimmick for running this and as Gimmick mentioned ive been in the top 5 of every draft so far but im yet to win one so you can be sure that ill be back next year... 2011 year of the Bounty Hunter.

sad to see the draft end but as the saying goes all good things must come to a....*starrts signing Journey- dont stop beleving to myself*

Congrats To Ger on a hard earned victory. Had hoped to beat my position last year but not to be among this top competition. Best go into training all year now for next time :D

You deserved better IMO. It says a lot about the quality of the competition when a roster with such a diverse set of talen as yours finished mid-table.

Go raibh mile, mile maith agat mo chairde ar mboards.ie. Ta athas an domhain orm.

It it with cruel irony that a Tipp man claims an All Ireland after facing some fierce competition, and many deserving winners, when we are used to being robbed of such an honor. It is with relief that I say that the officiating was fantastic, and that all the credit in the world must go to MNG and Gimmick for their running of this years draft. It was done flawlessly lads, and as a wise man once said, fair play to ye.

I must thank everyone who took part, and put their valuable time into entertaining us with their write ups. I had the most craic I've ever had staring at the 'puter screen, bar things that'd get me banned if I mentioned them here, reading the write ups that were put foward. There really was a team of All-Stars along side me on my journey to Croker. And be gob no tans were keeping us held down. Next time yer on the gargle, raise a pint of the looney soup for all the hard work yer after putting in. Maith thu, everyone.

There's a few others I'd like to thank. Firstly, the gentle giant himself, Damien Dempsey. When all else fails you in life, you'd be guaranteed a good lift from the wisdom on his cds. I'd also like to thank Liam Sheedy for giving the premier county the boot up the hole it needed the last few years. We'll see you in September Liam, and please be to god you'll bring your namesake home with you. A special mention must go to Arthur Guinness and Paddy Flaherty, who are the only two men I know that can solve a problem just as soon as they'd create one.

There is one man, however, that must be thanked head and shoulders above everyone else. This is a man, who to Aer Lingus and the rest of the world, is grounded for the forseeable future. But to me, he takes flight in my heart every time I read his poetry here on the mighty boards.ie. That man is the legendary Flahavaj. He is a man who would give you the price of a pint in your darkest hour, and he is the same man who would hold your hair back when that same pint reappears outside Abrakebabra a few hours later. He's the man who'd hauld you back from a row, when you've no intention of hitting a man, you'd only want to act the hard man after having your fill. He's the man who'd tell the Gardai he was with you all night, and that you didnt go near the wing mirror of any car. He's the man who would assure any bouncer that you "didnt do nathin" when you're in a headlock gettin thrown out on your hole for actin the pup. But theres one thing for sure - He's a ****in Lion of a man.

In conclusion, a million thanks to those who voted for me. I hope those I didnt vote for dont feel hard done by, it wasnt an easy job putting five votes together by any means. And coming from a Tipp man, you can trust me when I say these words - "There's always next year bai". Lord knows I've fell back on those words enough times.

Go raibh mile maith agat aris mo chairde! Beatha agus slainte!

Its like seeing a foolish son you had given up on flourish into a man and hurl senior county, when all you managed yourself was under 14 Junior B.
