    Hi,

i'm looking to but a new laptop as a present for my brother. I was hoping to spend in or around 400-500 euro and was wondering what would be the best buy for in or around this price. Looking for suggestions for retail outlets and not online please.

    Thanks.

well, with this in mind OP, your best bet would be to check out your nearest PC World or Currys, they have i think a few acers and dells for under the €500 mark, acer anyway to my mind provide better value than dell, more for your money as such, and they look that little bit more stylish than dells inspiron offerings.

But do the ACERs do the business.

Am asking as I am very happy with the 2 Toshiba I have had. However am starting to look for a replacement laptop. Not sure of budget yet, E500+, may wait to pick it up in the states in a couple of months.

Currently have an Equium L40 with Dual Core 1.6ghz, 2GB RAM, integrated grahics and 150GB hard drive.

Want better processor and better graphics. Looking at JnR.com in New York, they have quite a range and decent prices.
