Travel & New Passport

    Hi All,

I am travelling to North America for the first time in about a month.

I made a booking with Expedia for flights - Aer Lingus to Central Europe then KLM to a Southern State in the USA.

The booking was made around early February.

Since the time we booked both myself and the other passenger travelling with me have gotten the new "Chipped" passports to ensure a slight less manic ride through American Customs.

However, I was just wondering - when I book the flights through Expedia I would have used the old passport numbers and expiration dates.

I got the new passport last week and applied for the ESTA for both passengers with the new passport numbers etc...

Would there be an issue because the details (passport numbers and expiration date only) provided at the time of the flight booking have changed? Or is this something that wil be sorted at the Airport?

MAKE SURE YOUR ESTA details are exactly what is on the passport ie the new details. ur booking with expedia should not matter

They definitely are - I treble checked both ESTA applications before submitting them. Just to clarify I had never applied under ESTA with the old passport details.

    Cheers.

Expedia would have used your passport details at the time of booking to fill out the APIS (Advanced passenger information system) details that the airline needs for travel to certain countries.
You can call Expedia and get them to change the entered details in advance or you can change them at the airport as the information can be passed to the airline on the day.
This is information the airline collects from you and different to the ESTA which is your own responsibility.

be careful filling in details. errors with o insted of zero will cause problems. You could have to re-submit your esta at the airport internet facilities US immigration will not do it for you.

Also esta is a free service - some websites offer to complete the STA for you -if asked for credit card details u are on the "wrong" site.
