    Hi,

Anyone know where to get insurance to cover a race held in a park that is not run by a running club?

    Thanks,

Try any insurance broker. They should be able to help you.

oth, why not go through an AAI club? AAI permits costs clubs €32.50, with, I think, 3rd party permits, via a club, costing double that. If you get your own policy, as you appear to want, it'll cost an awful lot more.

Under an AAI race permit, you are automatically covered by the AAI policy. For €32.50/€65, I think it's a 'no-brainer'

Thanks for the advice, would any club be willing to jump in on it or do you know of any that have helped others, its a friend organising it as a charity run with permission from council etc...

    Thanks for the info

    Yes

Triathlon clubs can be covered by Triathlon Ireland insurance for single sport events - would require one day licenses for all non members, these would be quite a bit less for single sport events I'd imagine. (Or at least this was true a year or two ago).

Yeah Piranha run the John Davis 5km in Malahide and TI help with insurance as its a charity raiser for ICS and they've been very good in the past, that race has moved to summer this year so haven't checked whats happening with TI this year about it.

The run i'm checking on here is by a triathlete but not for the club, doing it himself as fund raising for Crumlin for NY marathon so a bit different I would have imagined or do you think TI would still get involved? Any idea who to mail about it in TI?

You'll gave to go through the AAI Co. Board in your particular county. If you find a club willing to do it, then they'll process the permit application.

Here's an AAI club contact list which should help.

In this instance it would have to be the Club applying and organising the event.

If the club were only applying on your behalf you would have to produce your own public liability insurance to accompany the permit application.

Thanks for the info, any idea where one would get their own public liability insurance for such an event and approximate costs?

    Thanks a lot

As your friend is ultimately raising money for Crumlin maybe they have such insurance in place for fund raisers? Worth asking.
