    Wolfgang Spread Trading Club

    Anyone any thoughts on this?

    According to their website it costs €2,950 to attend their 2 month Spread Trading training program which includes;

    - Account setup
    - Risk management disciplines
    - Markets and products
    - Technical analysis
    - Developing trading setups and edges
    - In-trading tactics
    - Personalized strategy
    - Live testing
    - Group feed back
    - Trading psychology

BusinessPlus has a news item on them but I can't find much more than that. I'll probably go to one of their open days over the next few days and I'll let people know how I get on.

There's a small piece about them in the Sunday Business Post from two days ago - if you cant find it let me know and I'll post it to you.

It's run by Worldspreads.ie afaik - I would be sceptical about spending 3k on a course like that but saying that I havent looked into it much.

    over 2k????
You'd be better off buying some books instead.

Do you need to spend 2k to realsie you have to cut your losers and run your winner's?
I found "Trend Following" by Michael Covel to be exemplary. Really covers all aspects of this trading approach inc. risk management and psychology.

Spread trading is certainly a good medium for a TF strategy but i'd rather keep my 2k to invest with!

    My 2c

Its run by a former Chief Dealer of Barclays Bank not Worldspreads. They are just sponsors to the club.

Just to say I'm involved with the club.

The idea is to educate and mentor people who want to spread trade. Our research shows that many people spread trade incorrectly or without adhering to the necessary disciplines and consequently lose money. With the proper direction and tools you can make money from spread trading.

Wolfgang is holding a few open days so you can drop in and find out more, ask questions and look around. The open days are 20th & 21st April 11am-7pm. Also Saturday 24th April 12pm-5pm and Tuesday 27th April 11am-7pm.

If you are interested please come along

    Sounds very very expensive,

Buy some books, join a forum, follow a trade journal of an experienced trader, set up a demo acc, learn learn learn.

These cowboys offering the magic answers are just that, cowboys.

After you find your bearings,3 -6 months, and after being profitable 3 months in a row in demo, invest your 3 grand that the cowboys were looking for in an acc.
Risk no more than 3% of your acc per trade preferabley 2% .
The experiance of live trading ,self decipline, and patience will serve you well.

Have a read of Trading in the zone by Mark Douglas, probably one of the best books ever written on trading.

    Regards.....

From my reading on their website, I think iy my be 4 days training spread out over 2 months (2 days each month).

I could be incorrect, but their 1 day course is 1/6 of the price the 'two month in hour training semiar'.
It also says: ' Dates bi-monthly from 3rd May 2010'.

Think about it - If Wolfgang and co. are so good at this stuff, why would they waste their time sharing their "secrets"...surely they would be better off making money using these techniques themselves.

Just to clear up a few things.....There is no price correlation between the 1 day Seminar and the 2 Month programme.

The 1 Day Seminar is an introduction to Spread Trading, covering things like Risk Management, trading strategy, trading psychology and trading discipline.

The 2 Month course is fulltime from 8am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday for 2 months. It covers all these topics in much greater detail plus you receive lectures from market professionals, individuals who spread trade for a living and you spend alot of time live trading and managing your positions under the guidance of Peter Brown who headed up the Barclays treasury division so he knows a thing or two about managing trading positions.

As you can see they are very different courses hence the price differential.

Finally regarding what were referred to as "secrets"....Spread Traders make up a tiny fraction of the investing market. They are so insignificant in the whole scheme of things that their actions are not going to move the market. So the idea is that we can all make money from spread trading if we collaberate, share ideas, adopt prudent risk levels and are very disciplined.
So there are no "secrets" unless you call a professional approach to trading a "secret". If so then here are some for you........

    1) Only be invested up to 2% or max 4% of your capital at any given time
    2) Always operate stop losses on every trade
    3) Determine risk levels you are comfortable with
    4) Stick to a few products and get very familiar with them
    5) Consider what you want to execute a particular trade and your expectation for that trade before you do it
    6) Complete deal tickets for all your trades so you can justify them and review them

Salaman is right - if they are any good then why bother. This is to supplement income because they AREN'T very good. An altruistic spread trader is something of an oxymoron. From what I gather all the incumbents have been out of the professional market for quite some time (5+years) so the track record bumph would be something of a concern....it's your money though so be a fly in the spider's web if you wish
