    Hi,
I have a normal Sky box and subscription (no premium channels), am I correct in thinking that Sky no longer charge for Sky+ sub? i.e if I pick up a second hand Sky+ box can I swap out existing Sky box and use subscription card to pause/record etc..I realise I may have to get card paired to box etc..
    Any advice greatly appreciated...

To get the full benefits from a sky+ box you will also need a quad lnb attached to your dish and a 2nd cable from your quad lnb fed into the Sky+ box.

I have paired my standard sky card to a sky + box this evening. it will not allow me record unless I have a sky + subscription!

    A quick update...
Got a very helpful girl in Cork who tells me that there is no longer a sub for Sky+ but I may need to pair down card to Sky+box when I get one...

Which is €0 as long as you have any active subscription. Ring up Sky and they'll sort it.

I got a HD box yesterday and gave my old sky+ box to my mother, who had a standard box. I was surprised how quick and easy it was to deal with sky.
I changed the box over, inserted her card, and rang the number to get the box paired with the card. Took no longer than 5 minutes on the phone. The card was paired straight away. Afterwards I remembered that I hadn't told them that it was a Sky+ box and so rang them again to get them to activate it. Again 5 minutes max on the phone. Took a couple of hours for live pause etc to come through. My mother doesn't have a quad lnb so can only record the channel she is on but has the live pause feature and anytime, plus a much faster and newer box than she had.
