I've been told I need to strengthen my core and also my ribs or intercostals. Can anyone recommend some exercises specifically for the area between the rib cages??

I'm gonna have a guess at an incline shoulder raise, using dumbells...it targets Serratus Anterior and not the intercostals. Sure your intercostals are only there to regulate breathing, not quite sure why you would need to strengthen them along with core myself...

Here's a link to that exercise: DB Incline Shoulder Raise

Might sound silly, but try blowing up a balloon several times to work your intercostals. Also surely if you were told you have to work these muscle groups by a doctor or physio they would have told you how?

Is there a particular reason you want/need to strengthen these muscles?

    Pullovers??

Bit of a mad question though.
