hey guys, having a bit of a problem with logic

i'm using a general midi file i found online to create a backing track. i've rerouted the midi info from GM instruments to better sounds like kontakt samples etc.

The problem is when i press play the track im running kontakt off pans hard right and increases its gain to +6db. I've deleted all automation off all tracks and set all tracks not to read automation but it still happens. any idea what could be causing this?

There will be cc messages and various other tempo automations etc.. embedded in the track :D

Check options>track automation>delete all automation data of current track.

Also check event editor at those points to see whats happening...

Logic has 2 types of automation if I remember correctly. The old region based automation & track based automation that I think was introduced in Logic 7. As PMI says if you open the piano roll editor & click on one of the notes/bars this will display the event list editor. In midi files the volume & pan data is normally located at the top of the track. Midi volume is controller 7 messages & pan is 10 I think. Can't remember. Delete them or reset the volume & pan data & you should be good to go.

NB You can also adjust these midi parameters in the hyperdraw editor. You get to this by clicking on the little arrows at the bottom of the piano roll editor & select which midi meassages you wish to be displayed.

    Hope this helps.

    Select all regions.
    Top right "lists"
    Select "event"
click "notes" so its shaded. This filters midi notes from the window.
You should now just have sysex, cont. controller etc.
    Select all and delete.
You should now have just the midi notes and velocity and got rid of everything else.

As mentioned Logic has 2 levels of automation. What you have just got rid of is event (region) based automation which would be found in the hyper editor as opposed to track based automation which is what you see in automation view in the arrange window.
