    Hi there

Some one has hacked into my hotmail account and is automatically sending messages with spurious links to contacts in my address book.

I've changed my password just now. Is there anything more I can do? There is no obvious help available on hotmail.com for this problem.

Help with this is much wanted and appreciated!!

change your secret question / password. change the passwords/secret questions on any accounts which use the hotmail address as the main email address.

Dont forget to scan you laptop/pc for virus/spyware.

Download Malwarebytes and do a full scan.

Thanks for the prompt reply and advice.

I changed the password and secret question as suggested so hopefully that will be the end of it.
The program behind it seems to send out the messages around noon each day so I'll know tomorrow if the changes have done the trick.

also make sure you mail is not forwarded to other addresses or that an autoresponder is turned on. Both can occur.

Sounds more like adware/malware to be honest. Download spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html and maybe another security malware program maybe Microsoft security essentials http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/support.aspx?mkt=en-us

    and run scans by both.
