    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-Satellite-L350-212-Laptop-Celeron/dp/B0027FFUMY/ref=pd_ts_ce_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics (currently £299)

Its not particularly powerful, and its running Vista so its a slightly older model, but its got a big screen and looking at the specs it would be fine for web-browsing, word-processing etc. You'll get a better laptop if you spend more, but for someone on a <€400 kind of budget I think its a great deal.

Note that its a DTR (desktop replacement) so quite big/bulky and not something that you'll want to carry around with you.

Works out at about €350 and shipping is free. I imagine they'll be sold out by tomorrow.

Thats an alright deal to be fair, put xp professional onto it and you have a fine laptop for "normal" use

Why XP professional?? Windows 7 would run great on it and also FAR cheaper to buy.

Well i guess but 2gb is now at the lower end of the RAM scale

Windows 7 uses up very little memory.

Vista runs lovely with 2GB ram, for the average non-power user.

    Expired anyhow.

Also a good deal and a nice bit more power than that toshiba, only a 15.6 incher though

EDIT: Maybe this one should be avoided after all, look at this review

They say the processor runs even slower than a T3000 Celeron Dual-Core, which is very poor really

If you had been looking for the expired one, then maybe this is worth a look. Should come in at just over 400€ delivered, a bit more mainstream than the last one, i.e, better processor, more ram, bigger hard drive and a slightly better version of vista, windows 7 on this would fly, plenty enough power to run it smoothly
