    Hi,
looking for help on this. My toilet is constantly refilling, there's no problem with flushing it but it just constantly refills.

I've tried search the site for an answer but must be using the wrong terminology.

Any help would be gratefully received.

    Thanks

your ballcock is probably not closing the valve properly usually an adjustor on it i think

What type of toilet is it. Is it a lever or pushbutton. Is there a ballcock in the cistern

Can you describe it a bit more.

Thanks for your reply guys. The house is about five years old. The toilet never used to have this problem (I think) but I think that I must've hit something as I removed the cistern cover to put one of those tablet things into it.

It's a lever toilet. It flushes and refills without any problem but then there is just a constant small flow into the toilet.

I am guessing "one of those tablets" is a blue loo. They totall fook up the toilet and have caused more damage than good. I am gussing there is blue loo gunk caught on the inlet valve. Just clean it all complety from the bottom of the cistern,

Thanks, I've only used the blue loos once or twice ever. Would this be enough to block it?

Will clean out bottom of cistern and hopefully that should solve the problem.

If that does not work then pour a drop of boiled water in. It will soften whats in the inlet. If this does not work you will need a new inlet valve....

Depending on how nice the plumber is it will cost you about 60 euro.

Loo constantly filling is down to the ball cock, or a leaky syphon.. Check that the ball is free to move up and down in the cistern. When the ball is in the up(floating)position and the water level is at the high tide-mark on the cistern wall, the flow should stop. If it does, but the water level slowly falls away, the syphon is leaking. If it does not, the rubber seal that closes the flow of water off has perished and the water is now in over-flow and is either running away down into the bowl or out the overflow pipe. So, if the water is not cut off when the ball-cock is at the high point, you can either adjust the plastic screw to cause an earlier closure, bend the brass arm downwards to lower the position of the plastic ball, or if this fails, replace the ballcock with a nice new shiny one and adjust this to stop the water at the correct level. If the syphon is leaking, get a new syphon and fit it or get it fitted.

May seem funny but the adjuster is the same on the most ballvalves, so take a peep.
