Someone said in the office that an Iceland Volcano killed thousands in Europe on the 1700's.

This outpouring of sulfur dioxide during unusual weather conditions caused a thick haze to spread across western Europe, resulting in many thousands of deaths throughout 1783 and the winter of 1784.

Seems to be true. So we have had it easy this time.

Easy you say , well it's not easy for me , I spent all day on boards posting my opinion when I should have been moving freight around Europe from my laptop. There was nothing easy about it.

With so many of these natural disasters,it's not a matter of if,it's a matter of when.

A matter of when you'll use the space bar a bit more.

That's nothing compared to the Toba eruption. Only 10,000 people were left on earth after it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toba_catastrophe_theory

If a shedload of sulphur dioxide was pumped into the athmosphere, it would have the effect of blocking/filtering the sun's rays from the surface of the earth.
This could and probably would reverse any of the effects of global warming if it stayed in the athmosphere long enough.
Best to get a few cans of beans in though should this happen.
