Poxy volcano poxy weather. Where's the poxy wind now ?

Supposed to be traveling to Madrid for marathon this weekend. Can't see it happening and travel by boat is not really an option.

I think I need to orchestrate a national/europewide rain dance for today/tomorrow. AT 12pm today could everybody jump around and pray for gale force winds and some rain/sleet/snow.

Of all things that can go wrong the odds of a volcano fecking up a marathon must be huge....

I'm in for the rain dance once you a can arrange some nice 90's techno music....

Thurs night/Friday a beautiful Low pressure to the SW of Ireland will blow all of that Volcanoc ash back to where it came from.
    Flights will again resume.

I hope this will be in time for you .

Probably not much use for you getting to Madrid, or Peckham getting to London, but if there are stranded people else where the temporary new boards.ie forum may be of some assistance:

Yeah I seen that. I was going to post this thread there but I reckon poor souls who were stranded abroad would be more likely to lynch me than participate in my rain dance.

Shels techo music is not allowed unless it has a weather (rain/wind) theme. I was going to go with raining men but after comments I made about Dean Karnazes in previous threads I'm afraid I might be turning to the pink side.

Ah, thats a pain, I'll keep my fingers crossed that conditions improve for you. You could rent out a pedalo to get you to Spain, but probably not good on the legs if your tapering.

I posted there last night, and after posting realised how insignificant my problem was relative to others! Feel a bit self-centred...but hey, that's marathon runners for you! ;)

That's terrible. There was a woman on the lunchtime news today also getting married and trying to get to Florida (I think). It's incredible, the chaos this is causing. PS. Sorry for your troubles too Road Runner ...

Sorry Roadrunner for stealing your thread... thanks everyone for your concern. I like the sound of baked goods:D I was thinking last night before I knew for sure that the wedding was off what would I feel like if the ash got in the way of someone doing a marathon. I can totally understand how disappointing that would be after all the training and planning for the big day. Whats going to happen to the London marathon next weekend I wonder?

For my own situation things are working out ok for us in the end. We are not having our vegas wedding but have met the registrar in Nenagh who has helped us make an application to the court to get married on Friday the 30th April before the after party we had planned for our return from vegas.

Fingers crossed and rain dance will be done for everyone else disrupted by this crazy volcano

At least all is not lost. There is feck all to be done when something like this happens so we just have to grin and get on with it. I'm hearing some awful stories about people being stuck overseas and hotels etc really milking it hiking up prices. For anybody who does that I hope it comes back to bite them in the ass. That reminds me, I had an outside chance of getting a number for London on Friday and looked into boat prices (with car). A rep from Irish Ferries was on Matt Cooper and said fares wouldn't be increased, well guess what the feckers did today ? yep increased the prices. I know the market dictates price etc but I still think they are out of order.

Rain dance set for 12 tomorrow. I have a YMCA Indian head dress (trying to keep my gay theme going) to hand and will be prancing around my desk tomorrow.

Auckland Marathon and Half-Marathon sells out reasonably quick. I'd boook a place now if you're interested in doing it. Nice enough run.
