Bertie Guest Speaker

Article in today's Tribune about what Bertie charges for his speeches...
"His fee for London is $50,000 plus first-class expenses for two... that would be flights, accommodation, hotel meals, incidentals and then airfare."

Seems to be no problem booking him for days when he should be at work in the Dail. If you or I pulled a "sickie" and went earning somewhere else , we would be sacked.
Does he explain, I wonder, during these speeches that he's on a sickie?

If they're stupid enough to stump up the cash in the first place then fair play to Bertie for suckering them out of it.

I heard Neil Prendeville on 96 Fm this morning, he talking about some FF function where Bertie was speaking (sorry I only briefly heard it), was reading some letter from someone in attendence, but most of it was apparently schoolboy jokes about sex and in one part they even went into some rigamarole about having to measure Bertie's wang to ensure he could sit/fit at the table.:D

Would've thought that was fairly lame, even for Bertie.
Apparently a lot of people weren't too impressed anyway.

sure things were probably like that since the day he got into politics, joking his way thru it all, lining his pockets, doing or getting favors left/right and centre and still getting away with it

    the big pr1ck

Can't speak for anyone other than myself, but it's a no way from here.

As for him skiving off work to line his pockets some more, I'm in two minds about that.

One is that it's completely sickening and unfair, given that we're paying him

The other is that if he'd skived off more while he was leader, we might be in less of a mess.

Anyone know when the tribunal results are due out ?

Blair is commanding half a mill for a speaking engagement. Does that make him 10 times better than Bert?
