Weight and runners

    Hi all,

I know that runners have a life span of about 500 miles, BUT i'm wondering if your weight can have a bearing on this.

I'm 5 9 and 16 stone so not on the light side. What i'm wondering is someone my height that 12 weighs 12 stone, will they get more out of a pair of runners as they have to deal with less weight hitting them with every step !!!

Might be a silly question but its going around in my head for a few weeks !!

it does depend on your weight, are you using them for every run, or alternating them; using them in cold/hot weather all the time, using them on cement/trail etc etc. Usually people would say runners last in the range 300-500 miles depending on these factors. You are heavy enough, if you want to get 500 miles a pair you need to only be using them every second run, both pairs you alternate will last longer that way imo.

Doesn't hold much hope for mine, 6ft and almost 15stone and same pair of runners for each run which is almost always on road )(tarmac)

It's all relative! You may not be hard on them and they'll go 500, it's hard to say. You should feel it when they start to go, they'll just feel dead and you'll feel it in your legs after a run. You also may see a kind of ageing/deadening effect on side of the midsole.
