Knitting Needles

I'm looking to buy around 34 sets of knitting needles so I can teach my class to knit. Does anyone know how much knitting needles cost and where I could buy them? Also, if I was buying 34 sets of knitting needles, is anywhere likely to do me a deal on them?

I have a school supplies catalogue which you can get 10 prs for €18+ (Specialist Crafts Galway) but they are the short length and only one size 4mm. That may be ok for what you want though.

I was doing the same hunt for adult classes last year and over the summer I bought a huge bagful of needles from charity shops. Even then I had to purchase a few of the most popular 4mm size. I got a lot of wool that way too, and put a bin in the local library asking for yarn which was pretty good.

Yes, one shop offered to do me a special price, but it was still more expensive than the catalogue (which isn't generally particularly cheap). You might do better in Dublin.

Ebay might be worth a try, I've found boxes of needles at really good prices compared to what they sell for here, you might find someone selling off a box full of the type you're looking for.

There's a shop on ebay that are selling cute children's needles with animals on the end in packs of 15 for £11.99 - seems like quite a good deal

Just to say, if you are teaching children, I've found the short needles are the best ones to teach kids on, easier to get their hands around :) Best of luck, one of my favourite parts of school was learning how to knit.
