Hi all, my sister wants to get these for running et al, she has orthos so no need to get the gait analysis done! I have a pair of Asics Gel Kayanos and love them thanks to the advice ye gave me here ages ago!! I was getting her a pair of them but they are out of size at the minute and she saw the add for these runners.

What are the thoughts on them?? Good, bad, or a gimmick??

    Thanks

This is the blurb of what they do

"Take the gym with you, workout at work or while you run errands. Built with EasyTone™ technology, the Reebok Trend walking shoe creates a slight instability, much like walking on sand, which encourages increased muscle activation in three key areas of the leg: the gluteus maximus, hamstrings and calves. Full-grain leather and mesh upper adds fit and durability. SmoothFit™ provides comfort and a smooth-seamed upper. Women's specific collar geometry, medial side foot support. Unique lace construction offers improved midfoot stability and custom fit. Bootie construction delivers reduced irritation and comfort. Molded PU sockliner with anti-bacterial treatment, extraordinary cushioning and moisture management. Easytone™ technology. Non-marking rubber outsole."

gimmick, I presume the idea behind them is that they force you to use your glutes more when running... learn to run properly and you will do this anyway.

She does run properly I think, she plays camogie and I am the only one in the house that can't run!!! So she would be better with the Kayanos? Or are the Reeboks still a good runner?

    Thanks

No such thing as the "best" or the "right" runners, just what's best or right for an individual. Go to a good running shop and get advice from them

+1 to the above, despite what gait analysis tell me, i feel much more comfartable in kayano 14's than asics higher arch brands.

Limerick sports store (siobhan in there) is good for advice Pem.

Have you ever run in chuck taylors? Nightmare. They're great for squatting but I wouldn't wear them to walk to the shop in, never mind run.

Tones your bum up to 28% more seemingly. I'd like to be the scientist that got to test these bums:

fair enuf maybe just me! when i run in my asics these days they just feel terrible so i'm gonna stick with my chucks! plus the chucks mean that i land on the ball of my foot and not heal strikin like a bad thing! just my 2c!

100% agreed and the whole MBT and easy tone needs to back the duck up and stop trying to con people into paying money for a poor shoe that will do NOTHING for increased BUM tone - ladies do lunges and then more lunges then more walking lunges and if in doubt high step ups and split squats.

It really pisses me off that advertisers treat their customers like total idiots at times (junk food, silly fitness equipment, snake oil supplements etc)

Total joke and this will help re picking the right shoe -
