Raw may be canceled because of Iceland Volcano

    http://pwinsider.com/article/46820/raw-star-says-its-not-looking-good-for-monday.html?p=1

The Miz responded to a fan question asking whether he'd get back to the United States in time for Raw at the IZOD Center in New Jersey via his twitter account, commenting, "Not lookin good. Of everything to stop us a volcano really? time will tell.." Miz later responded that he thought he would be stranded in Europe.

The Associated Press featured an article on the volcanic activity in the area has caused problems for the entertainment industry with a WWE spokesperson commenting that they were planning to charter a plane back to the States if possible, as opposed to flying commercial, as they usually do while traveling. Dave Scherer reported that earlier today.

That would be odd, Raw being canceled.

They could tape Raw in Ireland and broadcast it on tape delay. Be a bit of a logistical nightmare but it could be possible. Could be interesting as with such short notice they would probably have to let fans in for free.

Or they'll get a flight tomorrow or Mon morning.

i'm sure they'll travel south until they're able to fly outta there, i really don't see them missing a raw......although it'd be AMAZING to see 'em show a RAW from some random location (i know croker's open :D:D:D:D)

TNA could finally beat Raw in the Ratings lads :pac::pac:

Sad thing is even if Raw had to put Zack Ryder vs. Yoshi Tatsu in the main event it'd probably still beat iMPACT!.:(

TNA could finally beat Raw in the Ratings lads :pac::pac:

WWE could have Michael Cole tweeting, blogging and reading dirt sheets in front of a blank green screen and it would still probably do better than TNA.

If they didn't make it back in time would they air a recap show or something like that? It's very unlikely that they would film an episode over here.

The Smackdown crew was able to get a flight out of Europe, getting to the airport in Madrid, Spain, which has just taken off. What could end up happening at this point is the Smackdown crew and the Raw wrestlers not on the tour would do Monday's show in East Rutherford, NJ, but it looks now to be a lock television will be done Monday from the U.S

AFAIK flights from Dublin to the US are still going

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 219 ✭✭LegendKiller_

-The RAW crew is still in the UK and if they can't make it back to the US in time for RAW on Monday night, it's possible that they will film interviews with certain stars and air them on TV while the SmackDown crew wrestles on TV. There is a flight ban in the UK that has been extended until 7pm local time on Sunday, making it even harder for the RAW crew to get back in time for the show on Monday night.

i kinda don't want the RAW crew to make it back in time; i think it'll be really interesting to see what WWE can come up with on the fly :) and finally give SD a chance to shine on Monday Night :D

Will this be the first time aside from the Benoit incident where Raw hasnt been broadcast in its proper format? it'll be interesting alright

If only TNA would capitalize form this since they will be live and it will just be after Lockdown but chances are they wont which would be a pity since its a perfect opportunity to steal a lot of fans.

I was hoping that the Smackdown crew wouldn't make it back either, just to see a bare bones Raw consisting of NXT guys, WWE old timers, free agents and squash matches.

This sucks i got tickets for raw tomorrow for me and my gf i don't want to see a sd taping again i went to like 3 sd tapings here in nyc for the last year,i hope they just refund the fans our money if we choose not to go to there non raw show.

According to a new report by The Wrestling Observer, the flight ban in the UK has been extended to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. So it appears unlikely that wrestlers on the Raw crew will be able to make it back to the U.S. for the Monday Night Raw taping in New Jersey. As reported on earlier, the expectation is that WWE will use Raw talent not on the tour and members of the Smackdown crew at the show Monday night and do studio pre-tapes in the UK to hype the Extreme Rules PPV.

UPDATE: The flight ban has been extended until 7am on Monday morning

SD were in belfast on the sunday night in november, they didn't leave the hotel till 10am and not sure what flight they caught but taker, mickie james who were in belfast were both on raw a few hours later so if they get out sometime tomorrow morning or early afternoon they will make the show

I think Raw the next day (November 11) was in London, so only an hour flight away

The Irish airspace is now closed to outbound traffic until 1 p.m. local time on Monday. No flights will get out before then, at the earliest.
The earliest that flights can leave the UK is 1 a.m. Monday morning and most experts think that there is no way that any flights will be able to take off at that time or the afternoon, and that is hardly a sure thing.

This means it doesn't look good for the Raw talents to get to New Jersey for tomorrow's show. I expect Smackdown wrestlers to appear on the broadcast. I also expect WWE to air vignettes featuring the stranded talents to build to Sunday's PPV. If the Raw wrestlers can get back by Tuesday night, I would expect them to possibly appear on Smackdown.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,391 ✭✭✭D2D

    J.R on the situation:
"I am anxiously awaiting Monday Night Raw because it appears that the Raw crew will be unable to make it to New Jersey in time for the event if the Weather Channel is accurate in their report that air space throughout Europe is still closed. One would assume that means nothing is landing and certainly nothing is taking off until weather conditions improve. The good news is that the Smackdown crew arrived in Newark late Saturday night around 2 a.m. Eastern time so there will be plenty of available bodies to produce an entertaining, 2 hour TV show."

ok maybe this sounds ridiculous but wouldnt they consider putting on the show from the UK?? maybe it wouldnt sell out so it would have to be a free gig but would be cool and possible.

or else just change it to monday night smackdown and have raw on friday night instead

at least HHH can appear tommorow night

I wonder if Taker and HBK will end up on the show is some form or another.

They should also have a European Title Match!

def not HBK anyway he is fully retired. if he returns it will be in a non wrestling capacity and thats only if he eventually returns. doubt we will see him any time in the next 12 months anyway

ah i miss the european title. def should come back. it should be a case that only europeans can win it and they face the us champ for the intercontinental title. that way the euro or us champ will also be the intercontinental champ. would add something different anyway.

    *********anyways guys heres an update*****************

    http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/wwe/7363.html

    - It's not looking good for the RAW brand making it back in time to the United States for RAW tomorrow night. The flight ban in the UK has now been extended to 1pm local time on Monday. It could be mid-week before WWE can fly out of the UK.

WWE's problem may now be that they need to worry about getting the talents back in time for the Extreme Rules pay-per-view next Sunday.

It's expected that the SmackDown crew will work tomorrow night's RAW but with videos from the RAW Superstars to hype the pay-per-view. If RAW can make it back to the States by Tuesday night, they would then likely appear on SmackDown.
    ******************************************************

what if the worst happens and they cant get back for extreme rules??????????????????????

there will be a few days of flights to get into the air once the flight ban is taken away. that means that the wwe flight might be way down the que...................

pretty sure WWE use their own charter jet; seen in it Dublin Airport before :) anyway it's a bit stupid to ask but couldn't they just do it Irish Immigrant Style and boat to America? Pretty sure it takes less than 6 days.

Missing a PPV would be a disaster....unless of course they just do it in Europe :pac::pac::pac::pac:

yea but what i mean is there would be a couple of days worth of planes ahead in the que. its not getting a plane is the problem its getting to use it. unless they all just take off at once:D which would be cool.

what i dont understand is why dont they get the train to spain and fly from there or portugal

good question! I'm sure some can stay behind and mind the plane :D:D:D good point actually but i imagine that WWE's plane would be a priority since there's lots of money at stake.

I doubt they will have a problem getting back for the PPV. WWE will throw money at the airport and they will let them fly off early.

And Jimmy Wang Yang still won't get on the show. :(

well they would have more than 1 plane since the smackdown crew got out on time and the plane wouldnt have had time to fly back before the skies closed.

id send the other plane to spain for them and im sure the pilot of raws plane wont mind staying behind.

im sure theyll get back on time anyway but just hope the airports arent staying closed til tuesday or wednesday. they did afterall thinmk theyd be open on saturday.

either way itll be interesting to see what they do to liven up "raw" monday night now that its smackdown going head to head with TNA

Smackdown is taped on a Tuesday and aired on a Friday so I'd say theres just as much chance of the Raw crew being back by Tues than back on Monday.

i don't know anything about a charter jet but i have seen their private jet at numerous airports here and in the states, it certainly wouldn't hold the entire raw roster never mind all the extra guys with them like the ring announcer, dos caras, the road agents, crew etc

NXT guys could be on the show.

Daniel Bryan was in Las Vegas anyway and has flown to new jersey.

Also HHH, Carlito and Tatsu are in US. HHH will probably beat the crap out of someone as build up for the extreme rules match.

    ##update###

Air traffic control body Nats has extended restrictions in UK airspace until 0100 BST on Tuesday. Irish airspace is closed until 1800 BST.

    http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/wwe/7371.html
    - WWE will shoot some form of tonight's RAW from the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It remains to be seen just who from the RAW brand will actually appear tonight. A few guys like Triple H, Carlito and Yoshi Tatsu are here in the States but the majority of stars including The Miz, Bret Hart, Randy Orton and many others likely will not be appearing on TV unless it's some kind of taped video. Stars from the MacGruber are scheduled to host tonight's show.
