Working From Home Jobs

I'm an un-employed Secretary by trade, I own a Laptop, an Internet Connection with email capabilities, and a Printer and Scanner.

Any-one know any Companies / Sources that hire and pay Home Workers for Typing / Data Entry / Admin Services.

Like, I spend countless hours on the Computer every day anyway. So how can I turn it into cash lol.

I have heard of Google-Ads. etc. and how it's supposed to bring you in large amounts of money, not sure how it works, think it's got to do with advertising Ads. and how many "hits" the Ads. receive, but it requires you to pay into it from the start to purchase Introductory and Training Materials, which I'm quite reluctant about and quite sceptical to do.

But is there any-one out there, or any way of finding out if there's any-one out there, that would hire me as a Typist to do their typing work for them, and they don't need to make room in the Building for me as I could work from home ...... :-)

I did place an Advert. myself on a couple of occasions to advertise my services but got no response. :( I do sometimes do a search on the Net for Data Entry and it seems there is a Niche for Data Entry people in England working from home but not from Ireland alas .......

There is other opportunities out there such as Survey Completion which yields Reward points more so than hard cash lol! And things like Mystery Shopping which could be okay - but you don't get paid until afterwards (which is not ideal for some-one cash-strapped,) plus you have to register as a Self-employed person I think, as you have to claim rebates or something? which may interfere with Social Welfare so I can't really go down that route .....

Does any-one know any way I can make money fast sitting at home even, on my Computer lol!

There has to be something out there .......... Business start-up deffo not an option as have no start-up cash, but what else is there ...........

    All suggestions welcome!

I've been out of work for over a year fyi and have the t-shirt for applying for jobs I'll have you know! I am trying to be motivated here actually and resent your nasty comments. :(

Oh and as it happens you are being smart, I'm just trying to think of other things and come up with any possibilities from suggestions of other helpful members unlike yourself  ........

For a lot (most?) of the legitmate jobs of the online data entry type, the pay is quite low, possibly a factor of a lot of Typing / Data Entry / Admin stuff that can be done online being outsourced to India, or the Philippines.

I knew a guy who set up a call centre / data entry company in the Philippines, having considered going the route of using work from home workers, but it was far cheaper for him not to.

I'd doubt it would pay very well if you could get something like that - the legitimate jobs aren't really aiming to hire workers in high cost economies.

Though the fact that you rarely see these jobs on more legit sites like irishjobs and monster, and instead they're on Craigslist or a free advertising site, speaks volumes as to how questionable a lot of the "online opportunities" are. Beware of getting ripped off / scammed if you do go down that route.

Edit: Have you considered temping at all? Probably not ideal, but if you impress when you're in somewhere on a short contract you might get a chance at something more longterm?

In fairness, (s)he was dead right in her reply. (S)he's trying to think outside the box here and never made any indication that (s)he WASN'T going through the regular motions in their search.

I always say, if you can figure out unique ways to save wealthy people money then you can make yourself loaded. Even in this day and age. Trust me, I've lived it.

Sorry I can't give more practical advice but I commend you for looking at alternative routes. Just don't get too hung up on the work from home idea in case you miss a good opportunity elsewhere.

I tried the mystery shopping for a while - to be honest it does not pay well at all and takes up a good bit of your time, I also tried the online surveys - they take ages to build up points to get vouchers

I also did Avon, its free to start as they supply the books/forms etc - I did make some money from it but you need to be prepared to do the footwork

Shop and scan is another option but again it takes a while to build up enough points to get anything but worth a shot if you are cash strapped

I feel for you as I have been there and tried everything, hope you get a job soon

Likewise...I had been out of work for over a year up until last week , but if you are offended by other peoples opinions perhaps you should post on boards... As it happens I wasnt being nasty...Just making the point that motivation or lack there of ( and I know having been out of work for so long too ) is a killer when you are out of work.... It makes you explore areas where youd never explore usually....keep looking and applying , youll get there in the end
