    Hi all,

I'm separating from my boyfriend, we had together a mortgage . Due to the situation, I moved out and rent a flat . He was paying the mortgage in full and I m paying my rent . He wasnt really keen on the idea to buy my share . Am I allowed to claim any rent relief ?
It is now important because he s lost his job and I hav now to pay half of the mortgage and my rent :(. We were getting mortage interest relief . We havent informed the mortgage company yet as he wanted to keep the house (which i agreed in some way because I very much doubt that we can sell it at least for the amount we owe at the moment)
    Thanks for your help

I would suggest if you are paying half the mortgage you stop paying rent and move in to the house. a room each. You cannot claim both mortgage interest relif and rent relif, its one or the other.

Sell the house and go your seperate ways or get him out and rent it out or at least make him take in a lodger.

Why should you pay both rent and half the mortgage....
