Maybe i'm missing something but there never seems to be a thread about the Jonathon Ross show and who he might be having on. 10 pages about the z listers on the late late or whatever saturday night show might be on but someone who actually gets a-list people most weeks never gets a mention.

    Jack Bauer tonight. Nice one.

Funny that, If I lived in the UK I would gladly pay the UK license fee.
I think the BBC is the best media outlet on the planet, TV, Radio and web.

Funny that indeed, Visit the Digitalspy forums. Lots of people who go on about the BBC the very same way as people go on about RTÉ over here.

The LLS and Saturday Night show threads are purely for people to express their utter disgust at how appaulingly bad those shows, the guests and especially the presenters are. Whereas Wossy is a proper chat show that attracts A-List stars with interviews done in a very enjoyable way. Ok not everyone likes Wossy or his style, but he knows how to bloody present his show and knows alot about his guests and the topics whether it be film or music etc, so a thread slagging him and the show off would be pointless and not very popular in the wider scheme of things. People love to moan and those threads on the LLS are very entertaining because that is what they consist of - people moaning. :D

Looking forward to seeing Kiefer on tonight though - anyone see the pics of him out the night (and moring) before he recorded the interview. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/usa/2934495/Kiefer-Sutherland-has-boozy-night-out-in-London.html

The thread wouldn't last 2 pages; there'd be nothing to bitch about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,353 ✭✭✭Heckler

I just meant in general. Theres threads about all different types of shows. T'would be handy to have a "whos on tonight" thread for JR i think. Hey ! Maybe I'll start one.

He is a serious party animal. I remember seeing him on some programme last year when he toured with some band he was involved with.

Wayhay!! Another thread about the A-List celebs on Wossy... do you guys not see enough of them when you're flicking through 'Heat' Magazine?

The Jonathon Ross show is uber-banal, full of really bad puns and a load of blank brained celebrities, hawking and promoting their latest releases and generally talking about nothing...

And this is not an endorsment of the Late Late or any other Irish show, it's just an opinion.. and a statement of fact!!

Please point out the other thread about "Wossy" and his guests. The reason I started this one is because there was no other one......

Oh, and please point me to a chat show where the guests aren't hawking their latest books, films, albums etc.

Its why people go on chat shows and why chat shows exist.

Next week's Wossy will be "interesting".. it's got:

And along with those 3, you throw in this nutter:

I'm far from 'wee' but I'll take what you said as a backhanded compliment!!

I'm not anti-A List, or even J Ross, I'm just against the fact that some people seem to think that a chat show ain't no good without a Hollywood star. On saying that, the J Ross show isn't actually that good really

Any chance of an I.D. on the three celebs pictured above? Not being a Heat etc. reader I honestly have no idea who they are.
Guess the reason there are so few posts about the Ross show is that hardly anyone watches it over here, certainly in comparison to the Late Late.
Personally i'd rather be bored senseless on a Friday night by someone from Ireland whose life I might broadly be able to relate to rather than be bored senseless by some Yank I have vaguely heard of, plugging their latest album or movie and on their 50th interview of the week.
And obviously most viewers here agree judging by the audience figures.

Haven't even heard of the first one and wouldn't recognize Paltrow and Moore if I bumped into them in Lidl particularly as Moore is 50ish and the woman in the photo looks a good 20 years younger. Good genes I guess.

Your opinion is both ill-informed and a bad parroting of other people's opinions.

Feck no! At least not a thread espousing their talents, just threads about their lack of same would be justified.

Are people not allowed have similar opinions? You should know considering you mostly jump on the bandwagon anyway.. but let's move away from the petty boards bullying for a second..

If you like J Ross, good. I'm groovy with that, I simply don't... And I simply stated that from the get-go.

But let's get on track, why is Jonathon Ross's show so good?

Of course they are, what due my attention to it first was your reference to heat magazine and you using the phrase "uber-banal" in a failed attempt to cast yourself supposedly above it all.

Nope, 'uber-banal' is an opinion, I'm not above anything. Regarding 'Heat', I was refering to this celebrity culture that certain people seem to worship.. you're obviously tied into a subscription contract, you have my sympathy, but you don't have to read it you know.. You can use it to wipe up the **** comments you consistently post.

Say what you will about his style, but Ross makes entertainment out of whoever he has on. And fair enough, he can be a bit cloying with some guests, but he slips in some pretty surprisingly pointed questions now and then.

He's a naturally pretty gifted interviewer, and he's got a knack for pushing an interview as far as he can get away with and no more. He gets a good mix of guests on, and he makes the best out of them. There was more entertainment value and insight into the guests from the 50 Cent/ Catherine Tate show than RTE's entire output have produced in their entire lifetime, and I don't have any interest whatsoever in either of those people.

I defy anybody not to laugh at the sex toy hadron collider thing with Dr. Brian Cox a while back.

Sorry but I don’t read Heat, the actual reason why you are referring to it is that you are doing someone else’s material. Your tribute to a "pseudo intellectual social commentator" is rather banal.

I don't understand? Are you basing this on my comments here, or maybe my old blog? Be clear will you.

If it's my blog, fair enough, (and I assume this is where the Charlie Brooker reference comes from) I commented about Televsion some of the time on it, but 'doing someone else's material' is a bit strong. I hardly think anyone who reviews or comments on TV shows is 'doing someone elses material', otherwise every weekly newspaper, and indeed, this forum, is doing the same thing...

You have a personal gripe man, get over it.

Love that I was right with the whole Charlie Brooker thing anyway. I like Charlie but the dude has inspired some really bad writing.

Seriously what is wrong with celebrities and people wanting a big of excapist fun on a Friday night? Chat shows cant all be about sexual abuse and the economy. If you cant get to grips with that then I just dont know.

    Im done with this now.
