http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0416/rte.html. Good news, subject to possible appeals to Bord Pleanala. But when will they start the upgrade of the site?

Is approved but according to Irish Indo today transfering to Irish Glass Site could save up to €300million: http://www.independent.ie/business/commercial-property/rte-transfer-to-igb-site-would-save-build-costs-2442880.html

Not the daftest piece of property sector pimping I ever heard . Donnybrook is a prime residential area and the state is landed with this giant turkey in Ringsend anyway. RTÉ would be a good anchor for a Hi Tech creative industry temple borr .

The original plan is in fact as much about selling off SOME land and making money to pay for the "upgrades".

So they will wait for property prices to rise?

Where they are prepared to move to would depend on what commute the "bosses" are prepared to do. So move to somewhere cheap outside Dublin is unlikely. How did Limerick get Lyric FM, I wonder?

RTE Moving to Glass Bottle site.
While RTE might have to run the gauntlet of NAMA and objectors if they were to consider moving, the broadcaster has at least a year as it has not intended starting construction work at Montrose until 2012. What better way for the new DG to make a name for himself?
