There was a thread a day or so ago asking of the farm relief had a service to weigh cattle.

I dont think they do but it got me thinking is there a market for this? If i bought a set of scales and offered to go round farmers to weigh cattle would there be much of an uptake?

I could offer to come back at set intervals so you can monitor liveweight gain of stock.

    Any comments appreciated.

I can see an attraction for a non-pedigree breeder, or even a pedigree breeder who is concerned about meeting minimum weight for age at a sale. The thing to remember is, you'll be competing against the linear scorers, who all provide a weighing service. If a farmer is linear scoring, I doubt if he'd be looking for a separate contractor for weighing.

we made a crate that hangs on the back of the keenan diet feeder just reverse up to the end of the shoot and run them through find it a great job. to be honest if we did,nt have this we'd use the scales at the local glanbia to weigh one or 2 of them. not sure anyone out there would pay a guy to come in to do it...all the best any way!!
