Went to see it last night and really enjoyed it. Great acting all round, great soundtrack and very very funny.

I got more laughs from it than expected having heard Gervais & Merchant describe it as being 80/20 in the drama/comedy department.

Probably not the most original film you'll see but I'm already looking forward to seeing it again.

    Anyone else?

Saw it last night and I have to say it was poor. I dont mind the unoriginal storyline, I mean theres been a fair few films along the same lines that have been way better executed. It was just very contrived and the acting from the 3 leads plus the love interest(especially her)was shocking.
It had the odd good moment but if you wanna see a film about a guy getting out of his dreary hometown existence and making something of himself, watch "Starter for 10." Its infinitaly superior to this mess.

It's getting good reviews pretty much all round, looking forward to seeing it.

It makes me sad that Gervais and Merchant don't use the tried and tested (genius) comedy of The Office/Extras and incorporate them into a truly funny film, instead of this middle-of-the-road forgettable waste.

Will definetly check it out though.

I thought it was pretty enjoyable. I think my own expectations of it ruined it slightly as I thought it was a comedy, but it's more of a drama with some funny bits. Still, very enjoyable, some great performances, some very funny bits. Worth a watch

I really enjoyed it too. Very funny but also quite sad.. the bit where the son silently puts his hand on his father's arm almost made me cry! I do wish it'd been twenty or so minutes longer though, it ended very suddenly.

Saw it tonight, 'twas OK but unspectacular. Significant improvement over Gervais solo projects anyway, I'd say Merchant is more the brains behind the operation. No surprises or anything in the story, and everything feels a little too forced at the end, but the characters are likable and there is a sense of warm nostalgia that comes across from Gervais & Merchant's writing and directing.

Glad I spotted the very literally blink and you'll miss it appearance
from Sir Karl Pilkington, although wish him and Merchant got more screen time.

Probably going to go see this at the weekend, really hope it does well as I want Merchant and Ricky to do lots more work together.

Just back from it. I quite enjoyed it, and would give it 7/10. It would be 8/10 only for the lead male role. Quite how such a **** actor got the part is beyond me. He is supposed to be working class and has a middle-class accent, but thats not my main gripe, he was just so flat and ordinary. By contrast I thought the supporting male (the tough guy) was really good, he gave the character a lot of depth.

That relationship was the best part of the film.
