    Hi

Just to introduce myself, I have co-founded a number of sites over the past couple of years - MovieExtras.ie, NewAddress.ie, CastingZone.ie, FundraisingBoxes.ie, Snagginglinst.ie, (and am in the process of setting up more :))

I would like to spend a day or so with a NEW website giving you some of my experience at no cost what so ever. I have no intention of offering consultancy work etc, so there is no charge for the time I put in.

If you think I could help you out, send me a PM. I can only give my time to one site over the next month or so and will focus on a site that I think I can give some sound advice to.

There are no guarantees in my advice as being good, it will be just based on my experience!

Send me a PM if I can help you out.

    Cheers
    Derek

Good idea Derek, Fair play to you.

Hope more people will do this in the future maybe boards could spearhead an E&BM mentoring programme of sorts

Well done for your initiative, however if you are not sure that your advice will be good, it might be a better idea to post some general tips & pointers for people with websites in the main forum so that others can comment on them

What type of advice would you be offering Derek?

As your not a web designer I assume, is it more from the business side of things or what??

    Fair play for the offer.

However, site reviews, advice and criticism, call it mentoring or consultancy if you like, are common on this forum and are done in the open. There are two main advantages to this:

First, as it's open, everybody gets the opportunity to learn.

Secondly, there are many different opinions on good business and good websites. This variety of opinion, expressed openly, allows for scrutiny of those opinions and a better choice for users. This vital especially when it comes to websites as there almost no barrier to entry and consequently plenty of poor advice. You even admit that your advice may be less than perfect. Openly expressed and debated opinions mitigate against this.

So, my suggestion is simply to join us in open advice and critique as you're time, experience and expertise affords. We'll all learn more that way.

    Thanks guys for the comments.

My simple objective in offering my time to a new start up is so that I can give a more indepth insight into their busienss rather than just comment on a specific issue.

Regaridng whether my adivce is good or not, it is subjective (as is anyones advice), though I have a reasonable track record - NewAddress.ie - €1.6m from 3rd parties invested / buyout; MovieExtras.ie - no 1 in the market (and not the incumbant); FundraisingBoxes.ie - no 1 in the market. So as I say, I cannot guearnetee that my adicve is good, but I will give it from my own expereince.

I'll be in touch shortly with those who have PM'd me.

And I will try and particpate more in the general forum :)

    Cheers
    Derek
