    Hi all,

I haven't posted in this forum for a long time. However, I have recently started using fresh wheat grass. I juice it in the morning time before breakfast.

I was wondering if anyone else here has used it and what benefits they saw from using it?

Wonderful taste as well I must say!

    Hi,

I have heard lots about the benefits of wheatgrass juice, and I am considering growing my own and juicing it. Do you grow your own? Can you recommend a juicer?

I bought the matstone 6-in-1 juicer, it's excellent and good value compared with lots of others. Amazon sell it :)

At the moment I get mine in Nourish on Wicklow Street or I'll venture out to the Happy Pear if I have time on a Saturday.

I have the manual juicer but I'm dead keen on getting an electric one just to speed things up in the morning.

I was in there today as a matter of fact... all I can say is GOSH they charge 59.99 for the manual juicer,

get it on amazon uk here for around €33 euro and whatever shipping is --> http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002MEC6K4?tag=irishwheat-21&camp=1406&creative=6394&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=B002MEC6K4&adid=0C56K811PDS71W298HC5&

Are the sachets of wheatgrass powder bought in holland & barrett also good does anyone know?

Well i know they are ridiculously expensive, there are arguments for and against. I know the one you are talking about, I had it in my hand yesterday, it was like €22 or something. Nice packaging.

Consuming fresh wheatgrass (i.e. juicing it) is by far the best option.
I for one consume about 4 oz per day at the moment, (2 in the morning and 2 before lunch) - so using the powder sachets for me anyways is not ideal or value for money.

Ya was 22 euro for 30 sachets in holland and barrett, fancy packaging allright:) might invest in the juicer would be cheaper in the long run they are expensive enough...Does anyone else use the sachets?

    what are main benefits?

Can you just eat it rather than juice it.

As it is my understanding that in general its much better to eat fruit whole rather than juice it, juicing it makes it nearly as bad as soft drinks in terms of the high sugar content.

Also be a lot cheaper to just chew away on it then have to buy a juicer.

nope you cant eat it.. the body finds it nigh on impossible to break it down- i emailed the lads in happy pear with the same question, and they said you'd end up with stomach cramps if you ate it!

it's the hassle factor that has always turned me off, but apparently it has every nutrient going

hello! you could probably eat it if you still have your appendix but i doubt it'd do much good! juicing it takes only the goodness out of it, the grass part will just make your tummy hurt! Don't worry about sugar, juicing only takes out the natural juice it doesn't magically make the sugar content higher! Fruit has a high sugar content naturally.

If you're in Thurles, Angelic Ambience/The Wheatgrass shop do a very good manual juicer for €45.:D

Have heard great reviews on the matstone. Where did you buy your matstone juicer?

This doesn't make sense at all. You are eating the exact same thing, i.e. the exact same amount of macronutients, so how could the sugar content be increased just by juicing the piece of fruit?
