A US police officer is suing Burger King over a Whopper he says a worker spat in.


Sheriff's Deputy Edward Bylsma said he had an "uneasy feeling" about two employees after he stopped for a meal at a branch of the fast-food chain in Washington state.
When he went to check his burger, he says he found a big gob of spit.
DNA testing matched the saliva to one of the workers, who was later arrested.
Former employee Gary Herb, 22, received a three-month jail sentence after pleading guilty to third-degree assault.
Deputy Bylsma is suing the fast-food giant for $75,000 (£49,000) because he says it was negligent in its selection, training and supervision of employees.
In a statement Burger King said it had "zero tolerance" for the actions taken by the former employee.
Herb has since been fired.

After watching Fight Club I had wondered how something like this would be treated legally. Third degree assault it is then.

Pretty awesome that the cop was able to get DNA tests for it. They really didn't choose the right target there.

I love how in the American justice system you can sue for astronomically high figures for such a petty crime. It's not as if he has any life long physical or mental scarring from this. Over here you'd be lucky to get a 10th of that in compensation in a mild car crash.

Nope prison is grand is for him. I only wish there was enough prison places for all the people out there who deliberately impact negatively on others.

Hope the headline of him getting locked up is posted on the walls fast-food outlets around world. Might put the scares up other wasters who would consider doing such a thing.

I'm not surprised that burgers are spat in... however, I am surprised that some people didn't know what a gollier was!

No, I am not from Dublin - spent over 10 years living there, still work there yet STILL never heard that phrase before!

I'm sure some people from Dublin havent heard it either.....is it colloquial to certain parts of Dublin?

I'm also fairly sure that not all boards.ie members are from Dublin.....but I could be wrong :P
