    Hi,

I recently moved to Drumcondra and was wondering if the track is open to the public? I can't get any information anywhere. Or is it limited to members of Clonliffe Harriers etc?

    Thanks!

Tingle may be along in a while with the definitive answer. However I guess it's restricted access. Why not try the ALSAA track up near the airport? I guess that's theoretically restricted as well but I'm guessing no one will be too bothered about casual users.

oh ALSAA have toughened up their access recently. You may be able to get on the track but you won't get a shower after it

AFAIK Santry is run by Fingal County Council, and not Clonliffe Harriers. I think Clonliffe have a special arrangement where they get use of the track at specific times, but it is available to rent by other clubs. There used to be a way of getting to use the track by buying an annual subscription, but I dont know the specifics. You could try calling fingal coco. They should be able to help. Somebody may have the number for the track itself. I don't know if George Lonergan is still working there, but if he is he should be able to help you out.

The track is not exactly open to the general public - you do need to be affiliated with a club that has an account set up with the Morton Stadium management. You have to sign in and out on entry and exit and you will have to pay to use it if you aren't with a club that has an account. However, you only sign in if you're on the way into the indoor facility where the dressing rooms, etc are...so if you wanted to just go straight out onto the track without saying anything, the chances are you'd get away with it wink.gif unless you were the only person out there biggrin.gif
