quartz counter top

    hello,

I am in the process of getting a kitchen fitted.

The units consist of 800/900 drawers at base level
The base units do not have a top panel
At the moment with no counter fitted I can see into all of the base units from the top.

The quartz stone is 10/20 mm thick and mitred at front and turned down to make it look like 70 mm thick

The underside of quartz is fitted with plywood stips

These strips sit onto the base units, but an air gap 70mm high is left between all presses.

Stone people say that this is normal
Kitchen people say that base units do not have top panels

Should food presses be sealed from each other and the bin unit.?

This system wood work(no top panel) if the underside of the counter sat completely onto the base units

    What do you think?

    Thanks

I got a Quartz worktop. All my presses are fully sealed from one another.

Maybe have a chat with the cabinet maker to see if its his assemble that could change to seal off presses.

    Unclebill ,

    thanks for your reply .
Will be talking to installers tomorrow.

Is the top of the press sealed with a top panel of melamine or is it open to the underside of quartz?

Still amazed that they were going to fit the counter and with no provision for sealing presses.
