Hi Guys, I am interested in setting up an online betting website and wondering what I need to do to apply for a gaming license?. Can anyone give me any pointers as to how to apply for a gaming license?

This is a completely new thing for me so will be starting from scratch Thanks

Because what I am proposing is a better proposition and not in direct competition. What I am looking for is advise on the gaming license process?

so ...is it going to be a gambling ...or betting site ? (slight difference....prob little or no difference regards to legal side of things)

I guess as long as you have to funds in place to cover all bets, the online site created and standard disclaimers .... it would be a case of just get a licence for country where the actual gambling/transactions will take place and away you go.

NOTE: most of the online sites use gibraltar as a base (I think).... tax implications etc, with cams of "live" betting in casino's in far flung places.

Gibraltar is one, but also Malta, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Carribbean Islands and a few more.

OP as you are not aware of this, you're going to need someone to give you proper advice otherwise you're wide open to making serious and very costly mistakes. The detailed nature of your proposition affects the kinds of licencing model required.

Then there's the business factors which are very expensive, especially if you're offering 'something different' as you're going to need to do a lot of bespoke development which is very expensive, nevermind marketing costs and vulnerability from large and established competition. The only way I reckon you can get into the business for less than a six-figure sum is through skinning but given that you're proposition is new that's unlikely to be a possibility.

Where do you propose basing your operation? This will affect where you make your license application.
