Am I a nerd ?

I have about 6 courses that I run regularly and each time I run them, I record the time it took and record it all on a spreadsheet. I have around 3 years worth now so I know when I'm in (relatively) good shape. It also helps with motivation. My other half begs to differ and says that I'm a "total nerd".

Anyone else do this ? or am I really just a bit sad ?

I have logs going back 17 years if that makes you feel any better!

You came on the internet to try and prove the OH wrong about you being a nerd. I think that is a fail right there. ;)

Only logging for the last 8months but have them all on Garmin Connect but I then export these to Spreadsheet so that I can analyse them

So yeah we're probably all a little nerdy :)

Funny I have 6 different distances I've been running the last 3 or 4 years and record them in diaries too..I like the mini victories of many SB/PB's...think I have some diaries still from the late 80's and 90's when I was a sprinter:o and yes my wife thinks I'm a nerdy freak!!

I think all runners are nerds, especially those who own Garmins, like myself! I'll spend hours poring over splits and elevations and distances and all sorts of crap!

    I'm with Shotgun - embrace the fact you're a nerd! :D

You run long distance, and you ask questions on the internet. That alone is enough to qualify you. :) You keep your stats too, which promotes you to the upper echelons of boards level nerdiness. Well done!

Now, if you also have lucky socks, tie your shoelaces in a specific order, or collect stamps, you've gone beyond our level and any help we can offer here.

I don't even like running but it's the only means to accumulate all the raw data for later spreadsheet enjoyment so I persevere...!

For 3 years I have logged every km I have ran, swam and biked and for about 2years while trying to loose weight I kept a strict food diary and logged every thing I ate and drank and etimated my calorie intake and output for each day. Food diary works well and I went from 105kg to 83kg. I have started a food diary again when injured as my weight started to creep up, back commuting to work on my bike and the weight is starting to fall off again.

My wife knows I am a nerd, not for logging all of the above but for browsing boards.ie :-)

Go that extra nerd mile. Get a garmin and encourage some running buddies to invest in one also. Then you can setup rss feeds to each others sessions. It's a bit like running voyeurism!!!

My boyfriend`s a nerd so I relay all the info to him and he spews it all back with all the info in easy to read details!!!
Although I do some maths in my head while running - its never that acurate so I leave it to him :p
More room in my brain for important stuff...

goto mapmyrun.com and download elevation data for your running routes...hours of number crunching fun can then be had :P

runningmap.com doesn't have elevation.....I'm so last year :D Polar diary & progress will have to do until Ican afford a Garmin.

I'm a hoarder. I have two years worth of data from my Garmin.

I never look at it mind. But I have it, in case I need to find out what my average HR on a Tuesday afternoon was, or how often I ran after 10pm ....

It's important to be able to find out these things .. just in case ;)

Am I missing something but what is this link for?

I think Sosa was saying that the site gmap-pedomoter.com is better than the other two he mentioned. I've been using gmap-pedometer for ages, and while very basic it's an excellent tool...

Edit: I admitted a long time that I am an information junkie and nerd, and I'm happy with it :)
