the best deal around at the min is for Kahles 8x42 from Binoculars UK .

they work out at 680 euro.

these are excellent as good as zeiss, leica ,swro .i have always said there is only 4 makes to look at these are one.

at that price you would be mad to buy any other.

Kahles are good, but two things. They have a very narrow field of view compared to others and they are no long being built. Kahles is going out of bino making.
Meopta 7x42 or 8x42 are very good. Price vs performance...
I checked, meopta, swaro, nikon, zeiss, minox, doctor...you name it after 2 days at the IWA. What did I buy...Vortex razor 8x42. I'm extremely happy with my decision. Price vs quality vs performance is brilliant.
I think you get em at around 460 sterling off a site in UK, which is a very good price.
I could get them in from the US too.
Quality wise vortex scopes are knocking at the door of schmidt...

I use a pair of Swarovski el 8+32, great set of binoculars and you have a lifetime warranty with them.

A friend picked up a pair of SLC 7+42 for 1000 euro in the north, there are nice set of binoculars.

Your better of spending as much as you can afford on a good set of binoculars, it means you wont have to buy another pair, a lad i shoot with has a pair of Swarovskis that are over 15 years and has never had to get them fixed, the optics are still perfect.

I really liked the Kahles and we were about to buy two sets. Just when we were at the kahles stand they had no more binos and informed us about that they stopped making them. Maybe they are only making em for the USA in the future??? Because they are out of Kahles EU website but still in the US site.
The weight advantage over the meopta could have made up the lower field of view. Kahles 110m/1000m Meopta 8x42 133m/1000m Vortex 140m/1000m. Big difference between 110m and 140m.

When looking for best prices I thought the UK webshops seemed to have better prices than Germany for example.
Another interesting set would be zeiss classic 8x56 BGAT, they are sold on e-gun.de occasionally. new around 1000,- Euro.
Try google for the brand you want in the UK and check prices.

8x56 BGATS are to big for stalking .

Most used stalking binos in Germany.
A bit on the big side but still lighter than 7x50 SLC's.
For 8x56 they are light and fairly narrow built, handle nicely.

i have used them in high seats , not stalking there to bloody big .

they might be widely used on the continent ,as hunters there are happy to sit in a high seat all day and they shoot on the moon .

7x42 BGATS are love glass i had a pair for many years ,i would still have them only ,every one i have out ask how far. so i bought a pair of leica .

7 or 8x42 are about right for stalking .were not allowed to shoot deer one hour before sun rise or one hour after sunset . swro do a lovely little pair of 8x32s there sweet.

I saw these on done deal :

    http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/othersports/1219927

I was reccomended here to buy the 8 x 42 by Jw when i was buying my pair

In the end i bought a pair of used 10 x 50 Swaros - the price was too good to pass.

They droove me crazy for the first season due to the sheer weight a 1Kg weight hanging out of your neck is not cool

I went through 3 different prototype pouches / harness's before i solved the problem

Once i distributed the weight properly on the shulder area i could could carry them all day

My 5 cents worth are dont rule out 10 x 50 s if the price is right;)

The Fov is way better too

I will post images of the home made harness i made
