All depends on you tbh. How often would you use the phone, eg minutes spent talking, number of texts, online browsing, streaming music, you tube etc etc per month?

If you will be online a lot, billpay is probably the way to go as Pre pay can work out very expensive if you exceed your mb allowance.

As for provider, this is Ireland after all so "competition" is a joke. It's impossible to compare like with like but they're (ie O2, Vodafone, Meteor) all charging in and around the same for their price plans.

The last thing to consider is the network coverage where you live. The iPhone is very twitchy when it comes to picking up a signal. Example, I'm with O2 years and my last phone always had a full signal where I live but the iPhone struggles to get 2 - 3 bars at best and sometimes there's no signal.

ok cool but some of the price plans are quite pricey for what you get though but thanks this as helped me out alot.

No problem. Hope I haven't put you off the iPhone as I think it ranks as one of mankinds greatest ever inventions;). You wouldn't go back to a "normal" mobile after using the iPhone.

To be honest I'd wait until June/July when the new model comes out, looks like there will be a fair few improvements: http://mashable.com/2010/01/18/iphone-4g-guide/

yeah so I heard its supposed to be a brilliant piece of kit and anyone I know swears by it! looks like if i decide to go with the i phone ill go with 02 as there basic plan on bill seems better value i.e. 150 min 100 texts unlimited browsing on the internet anywhere you go and 20 cent per min on extra minutes and 10 cent per extra text also have a choice of 4 free add ons like texts to any network!! but if the rumors are true about that link i might just hold out for that new model!

You can only get the free add ons on the 350min plan or higher, not the 150 one

And to clarify the "Anywhere you go" for datat is only in Ireland isn't it. if you go oversees be sure to turn off the data traffic or you'll come home to a surprise.

But the value on iPhone seems poor at the moment, I got mine on the 350 package for 99 euro at Christmas, but now they are looking for 229

yeah just seen that there in the brochure!! always read the small print I suppose.but still the basic plan is better than the vodafone one and being both an 02 customer and vodafone customer in the past I think ill go with 02 as there better to deal with and more helpful than vodafone.

when i was in the shop yesterday the women tols me its 199 for the 16gb 3gs model on top of what price plan you pick a month!
