Dubai - Advice

I was drunk as a monkey on Saturday night and was talking to a friend of mine in Dubai. Said I would go to visit them (They are out there for a year). Then while still pissed as a fart I booked the flights for May. Problem is that when I woke in the morning it didn't seem like as good an idea as it did at the time :p. I somehow managed to book 3 weeks so it's not possible to go that long. Also I don't think I can properly afford to go - put it on my credit card so will have to pay off that now. I'm now left with 2 choices - Cancel the flights or change them and go for 1 week.

    Flights cost me €465
If I cancel them, I will only get €80 of it back hence a loss of €385.
It will cost me €195 to change the flights bringing total price of flight to €660

I now have to decide whether to pay an extra €275 (80 potential refund + €195 to change ticket) + price of the holiday

    OR

Do I cut my losses at €385 and say **** it....drunken mistake.

In serious Dilema as to whether or not to cut my losses so any advice is appreciated

Also I have insurance on the flight's but i'd say it highly unlikely i'l get anything for it

get a doc note to say ur ill and claim back on your insurance ?

then feel the guilt about hiking the cost of insurance up for the rest of us. :D

I have been to Dubai, A week is more than enough and more likely 5 days will see you done (sight seeing - maybe some days to hang with you friend).

Tough choice, I would be tempted to pay the extra and change the ticket. You've commited yourself to it so far, may as well finish it off ?

Was talkin to the insurance company today and told them that I was put on short time with the possibility of redundency (partly true) but they said i'd have to be made redundent in order to gain compensation....don't know how to get around that one cause can't change my story now

will your mate let you stay at thier place ? they can show you how to eat local or cook in thier place? so it doesnt have to be expensive. will they let you stay for 3 weeks ?

Not an option to stay for 3 weeks, Can't get work off for that long so just not a possibility. Don't think my mate's housemates would fancy me stayin that long anyway

ring up the airline/website you booked it with and tell them you only meant to book for a week not 3 and see what they say? the worst that can happen is that you'll be in the same position you are now.
