    Hi,

My love affair with How I met your mother has come to an end (I have watched them all)
it started off with me thinking it was just ok, and nice to have on in the background then I got really into it.

I am in the pursuit of another easy to watch comedy that is handy to just throw on for 20 mins when you have a spare few.

    any ideas?

here are the obvious choices you might reccommend but which I have already seen and loved.

    Arrested Development
    Curb your enthusiasm
    Weeds
    30 Rock
    Extras
    Office
    Royle Family
    The Thick of it
    Shameless
    Inbetweeners
    Skins
    American Dad
    Family Guy
    South Park

What am I missing? any good suggestions?

    thanks

I don't think I like the Big Bang Theory

I'm presuming you've omitted Seinfeld in error because you've watched CYE. If not Seinfeld has to be it.

    Testees

Some love it, some hate it. I personally found it a bit stupid and slapstick at times but that didn't stop me laughing my ass off at it.

Why not go for a classic and watch Porridge, you can't beat Fletch

    Eastbound and Down.

    Summer Heights High.

    Flight of the Conchords.

Three of the most outstanding comedies of the last few years IMO.

I assume you've seen Father Ted, Black Books and The IT Crowd - if not hop to it...

    Apart from them my other recommendations would be;

    Modern Family
    Eastbound and Down
Misfits (technically not a comedy, but similar to Skins and Shameless which you've listed)

You cannot go wrong with Arrested Development, came pretty late to the party myself but it is awesome, you really can't get better

I'd like to second the recommendation for Misfits, which, while not entirely a comedy, had me on the brink of tears laughing at it more than once. Nathan is a glorious victory of a character, and the whole series is damn near perfect.

In the meantime, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is great if you've not seen it. Spoof 1980's horror with superb attention to detail and gratuitous keytar.

tis not a sit-com per say but QI can be really funny too!
    only fools and horses
    fawlty towers
    brass eye

    all classics.

    BLACK BOOKS is essential

also good choice on arrested development top notch comedy and totally under-rated

Or have a look through this: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055689569

Why did you open this thread twice with two different titles, by the way? Is this some sort of pastiche of Lost with an alt-thread?

Oh, Parks and Recreation is decent too. Well end of Season One and first half of Season Two

I know it's not a sitcom but The West Wing can be hilarious at times. Toby, Josh, CJ and Donna in particular have some classic lines. I laughed more watching that than I do at most comedies.
