If your friend won 16 million

You're friends with someone for say 4 years and they win 16million, would you be able to keep the same friendship in place or would it all change?
Would you ask for money if you were stuck?

I wouldn't ask for money but at the same time, I think the friendship would change massively..

    I don't know.

Alls I know is if it was me that won 16 million, my relationship with everyone in this country would change.... Cos I'd be gone to Las Vegas!!!:D

    fap.

    Wait....what?

I'd keep the friendship the same on my end, post celebrations of course. If they drifted away, I'd tell them that hoping they'd stay my friend, if they didn't, big whoop.

    /serious

Kill them, friends come and go, money is forever.

Well it probably would change a lot because I'm pretty sure he'd be gone out of this country before I had time to say congratulations.

Depends how much of a slice of the action they gave me.:pac:

After 4 years of Friendship, i'd surely know enough dirt on him to blackmail his ass.

    16million...yoink!

I wont deny id be seriously jealous, and I also wont deny that Id be disappointed if he didnt offer anything, even small, but that would have to massively depend on the type of friendship it was. I have 'friends' going back alot longer than 4 years but I dont know if they would see any cash if I won whereas I have other good friends of about 3 or 4 years who most likely would see cash.

To answer your question, yes at first, but as soon as I got used to it i dont think much would change then.

initial joy would give way to resentment on your part,
initial generousity would lead to paranoia that everyone was gold digging on their's. they'd buy a big house with a big wall and that'd be that. ;)

    I'd go on the dole.

I wouldn't ask for money no. I would hope our friendship would stay the same as much as it possibly could, but 16 million is a serious amount of money and i'm sure their lifestyle would change. They'd be jetting off round the world in their own jet, while i'd be too broke to even get a Ryanair flight somewhere!

I'd end up secretly resenting them. So no change really.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭consultech

I'd most likely look to manipulate them into giving me at least a cool one.

....Friendship over - what type of rich person wants to hang out with paupers - of course friends would end up sponging off you. Who wants friends like that. I'd get me some rich friends if I won 16mill. :pac:

wtf at people saying they'd leave the country if they won the lotto... We're in a deflation; if you were wealthy to the point of not needing to work (e.g. 16 million), why would you leave!??

The weather. Proportion of bikini-clad hotties, potholes not too kind to ferrari's.... Hell I'd leave.

Mix things up.. I'd like to spend a few months in my ski chalet, a few months in my Manhattan apartment, a few months in asia and the summer in Galway.
Might settle in Ireland eventually but at 22, I'd be gone.

Deflation ! If you got 16m I'd say you'd be ok pretty much everywhere. I can understand why people would leave. Personally Id stay here and give the money to keep Anglo afloat. :D

FFS nobody wants to know me now, what would spark a sudden interest in a rich stranger?

Friends come and go but enemies accumulate.

Nobody needs to know about the 16 Million.

It will cost you all your friendships in the end. People say they wouldnt ask for money but they will.

I'd love it. Worry about the problems when they occur.

Anyone winning 16 milion would be wise to keep their mouth shut. Not because of their friends, but because people have been kidnapped for a lot less. Nasty, but true.

Now, how to go about makng all those anonymous gifts whem I find myself 16 million richer tonight......:p:D

I had a couple of friends once but then I won 16 million.

Reckon I would leave my buddy to it - They probably would be too busy to maintain the normal friendship we used to have anyway - I know I would. Would still try to keep in touch but I wouldn't be asking for the odd few thousand or anything silly like that.

Of course, I wouldn't say no if offered a modest sum! :pac:

The lad i bought it off is sound and the housemates know him fairly well cause they've been here for ages.. I'd probably get him a three wolf moon tshirt.

Knew a fellow who broke up with his woman of several years after she won a few million. He said she turned into a bitch almost overnight and he had to choose between staying with someone he had grown to despise (and living well) or leaving.

All the clips of old biddys being stopped on the street that were played on the radio stations today...
    'ah tis too much money'
'shur you wouldnt know what to do with it '
'Wouldnt let it change me' etc etc
One of them bitterly muttered something like 'you can be damn sure all that money wouldnt bring you happiness'

Hope to fcuk none of them won it:mad:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,423 ✭✭✭tinkerbell

Yah I heard those clips of them interviewing the people - from Cork was it? One said €16m was far too much, a quarter of it is enough. I don't think they'd be saying that if they won the €16m! lol

So has it been announced yet if anybody won it tonight?

Edit: It's up on aertel - there was one winner of tonight's lotto :(:(:(:(:( There goes the hope of winning it on sat lol
